If you want to have the plastic version of a Greek salad or a low-quality grilled souvlaki type please go to this joint. There are numerous better places to eat souvlaki in Athens.

This restaurant is placed in the area of old Athens, in a very traditional, cozy, busy and touristic road. We decided to visit it as we were searching to find something fast and good. Tip: Find a table inside. Because outside every two minutes someone is coming to beg for money or to sell you somethinng. We ordered 2 pitta... More

Staff didn't show too much effort to make us feel welcome, they were busy. Food was good, the place is unique and original. Location is great, and we enjoyed the experience after all.

The food was very nice and fresh too. Value for money but my french fries were cold and I had to ask them to replace them. Service has to be more professional.

The title speaks for itself: the grilled meat we had went beyond our expectations and, if paired with a nice cool beer, it is for sure the perfect way to top your lunch while enjoying the atmosphere of downtown Athens.

We had this place recommended to us by a friend. Well worth a visit if you are in monastiraki flea market area. Have the mixed plate of souvlaki. More than enough for two. Great tasting and even when busy a nice atmosphere. But I'd suggest only sit upstairs if the air con is on otherwise it gets very hot

Too oily, too salty, the smallest child of the family had to wait longest for her food, was good for a short break while walking between Athens sites, but I would not return

Staying in Monastiraki

Neighbourhood Profile
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.
