A colleague and I took transit to Syntagma square and picked Meatropoleos to eat at after walking around and looking at son TA reviews. I had a tasty beet/spinach/feta salad, a side order of their sausage and a kebab wrap/gyro. My friend had some Halloumi cheese and two of the wraps/gyros. Our cost was under €15 each and the wraps/gyros... More

It looks a bit like another fast food joint (it's next-door to a KFC), but the food is actually really good. I had the lamb chops which were the best I tasted in Greece.

Amazing chicken souvlaki, delicious salad "meatropoleos", potatoes and ground turkey patties. The prices are reasonable.

We ate here after site seeing and a nice walk in town. The food is absolutely great. Great salads, grilled skewers, whole wheat pita bread and prompt and friendly service! The food is flavourful and made with fresh produce. Highly recommended!

We were tired after a big day of sightseeing and stopped to have a gyros. It was delicious and the staff were very friendly.

Good food although not that many Greek choices. Awesome service, we got a lot for our money including free wine and avec. Clean and nice looking establishment. Easy to find! Recommend!

This restaurant was easy to find and the staff were very friendly. You can sit indoors or out on the patio area. The food we had was good. Both my husband and I had the chicken pita wraps. They were fresh and tasted great. The tzatziki was good but not the best we had in Athens (The Old Tavern of... More

Convenient place, next to Syntagma Square X95 bus stop, try the Pancetta (Pork belly steak) similar to pork skewer, serve in bigger portion, tender and aromatic.

Very pleasant industrial design restaurant very clean and warm with the best quality food.We use only local meat on grill with real fire, fresh fried potatoes, fresh salads and homemade deserts from our mother(nut-pie,galaktoboureko,orange pie).we have a wine list from Greek estates and a variety from beers and excellent cocktails.the price per person is 10-17euros.

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
