Do not go to this shop too hungry otherwise you will not able to decide what to pick. I have tried their Cappucino Fredeo, sandwiches and pastries --- ALL is GooD with an affordable price. I especially enjoyed the one that is located outside the Athens Airport --- they offer affordable sandwiches on the go. Beneth become a signature store... More

This is a wonderful bakery that entices you in with its display of breads, biscuits, baklava and much more. Upstairs there is a balcony cafe/restaurant that is pretty popular with the locals and tourists alike. There's a good selection of snacks, freshly from their ovens and the decor has a lovely retro style to it. We liked it so much... More

After few hours of strolling into Acropolis and the beautiful Plaka neighborhood, I found this great pastry shop and cafe selling plenty of savory and sweet bakery, I helped my self to one of the best cheese croissant that I ever tasted. The croissant was crisp and very fresh. I would revisit this establishment if I had the chance.

Beneth Bakery would be the best bakery I have ever been to. We found when travelling in Athens there are a number of Beneth Bakery's and they are all the same. We booked our accommodation in Omonia Square, one of the reasons was proximity to this bakery for our meals. It came highly recommended. So much to choose from, bread,... More

I was surprised to see this rated number 1 of the 40 plus bakeries in Athens. I was just walking the streets on my first night in Athens. I wanted a take away snack and there was so many choices in the area. I had passed about 10 bakeries, then came back to this one. It was clean and bright,... More

The displays of sweet and savoury pastries are works of art in their own right. The Greek sweets glisten wuth honey or are dusted with icing sugar. The baguettes are delicious, crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and wrap generous servings of cheese, tomato, cold meats. I did't get to try the tiropita or other warm pita/pies, but... This place is a Starbucks on steroids. You walk in and the view and smell of pastries is overwhelming. Not only did we eat there but ended up taking a box back to the hotel.

We visited this place two times. The first one was to have dinner. The food is very well prepared and tasty. Considering it's a patisserie, they're very competent. Also, everyone's polite and welcoming. So much that they had us to come back a second time and try a coffee and some Greek donuts I can't remember the name but I... More

We were looking for some delicious freshly baked pastries and this was it! I had the round pastry with ham and Gouda cheese inside, so yummy. The crust was really buttery and flaky.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
