Tried to get takeout here on the last night of our honeymoon. It was late and we had just finished packing to go home and only had our airport clothes left out. We obviously didn't want to go and sit at a restaurant, but this was the closest place to our hotel. At first the restaurant owner/host welcomed us in... More

Being a night owl I appreciated this place as it was very handy (in the hotel) and the food was so tasteful. Food all over the country was the same, probably not full of genetically engineered stuff like back home. Fresh and delicious!

Just across the road from the hotel. Nice open air restaurant with cool vibe and welcoming service. A graet choice, especially if you have just arrived and don't have mood to wander far

Run by the St. George Hotel, this asian influenced restaurant is in a park like setting. Unlike most Greek restaurants, we encountered quite a bit of cigarette smoke from surrounding tables. The food was good but nothing unique. What looked intriguing was the outdoor theatre they ran during the summer months. That would have been divine to experience!

This once vibrant and trendy restaurant and bar must be one of the latest victims of the crisis... Much reduced space and menu, less staff (they do make an effort, but there's just not enough of them), lower quality. We went on Wednesday night (not a busy night by any standards) and we were told we could not order cocktails... More

We arrived at the adjoining hotel St George Lycabettus after a long week on a sailboat and we were too tired to wander too far from the hotel to have dinner. Originally we stopped in for a drink with our friends, but the staff was so friendly we decided to stay for dinner as well. We are a varied group... More

Staying in Kolonaki / Lykavittos

Neighbourhood Profile
Kolonaki / Lykavittos
By far the ritziest neighbourhood in town, Kolonaki is home to most of the chic boutiques and designer label stores. Here, the wealthy say no to austerity by dressing in their finest and spending hours in the trendy cafés around Kolonaki Square, sipping the most expensive coffee in Europe. The area also contains a couple of notable museums and cultural institutions, which add to the air of nobility. The leafy upper reaches of Kolonaki transition into Lykavittos Hill, the highest point in central Athens. Climb the paths through its wooded slopes to the tiny chapel at the top, from where you are rewarded with stunning views across the Acropolis to the sea and even the mountains of the Peloponnese on a clear day. The wooden amphitheater up here hosts regular concerts during the summer.
