This restaurant is a hidden gem 5 min from the Acropolis museum. The food is absolutely delicious. I had the lamb which was perfectly cooked and my partner had the pasta with the fried egg on top. The staff are friendly and even though it was heaving they managed to fit us in (I recommend booking). Complimentary digestifs at the... More

A recommendation to eat here from our host did not leave us unrewarded. The food and service were wonderful. Very clever recipes and a number of dishes are available in half servings before 6pm. Service was quick and courteous and included a complementary digestive after dinner. Highly recommended.

The food was very good. Dishes were well served. The service was also good and fast. However, considering the overall, the price was a bit expensive.

We went here our first night in Athens because it was close to where we are staying. It turned out to be a very good choice. The food was interesting and beautifully presented and, most important, it was delicious. We thought the prices were very reasonable.

One of the (many) good things about Athens is that one is never short of (very) good options to eat and drink. My partner and I were looking for somewhere nice to have lunch and we asked out hotel staff a nice dig. They recommended Mani Mani, named after a region in Greece. Unfortunately they only open for lunch after... More

Mani Mani is a pleasant restaurant, close to Akropolis and Plaka with reasonable prices. The food could be very nice, if singlino, (a kind of smoked ham produced in Mani), was not present in almost all the dishes.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
