This restaurant was one of my favorites in Athens by far, with better Egyptian food than anything I'd eaten in Egypt (their kusherie was spectacular). They also were in a gorgeous old building. When I tried going back a few days ago, they were closed. Their website says they're looking for a new location, and I hope they find one.

This is a lovely little place with fantastic food and great service. The owners were lovely and she told us about how she had come over from Egypt and tries to put that influence into her food. We really enjoyed it here. Quite a different dining experience compared to most Greek places.

Tucked away and yes, difficult to find, but worth it. Excellent service, friendly and good food. Based on a recent review, hope it hasn't closed down.

We ate at Alexandria several times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it. We went there yesterday 30 December and found it has closed. Shutters closed, door padlocked and name sign removed. Check the restaurant's website before heading to the Alexandria.

Good food, helpful service. Excellent Greek desserts. Quite limted menu and difficult to find on the street. Worth the effort though.

There are many superlatives that mean awesome. This restaurant is all of them. The welcome, the food, the wine, the ambiance all excellent. You will miss out on an enriching dining experience if you visit Athens and do not make the time for a leisurely meal at Alexandria.

Great place to eat Greek food. We tried the Baba Ganoush, Falafel, the mutton and the kofta. All were mouthwatering dishes!! Even my 6 year old pick eater gave a 2 thumbs up! The reception lady was very courteous with a wonderful smile!

Decided to try this place out as it is only a few minutes walking distance from the National Archaeological Museum. We arrived at 3pm and the front door was locked but we can hear music blasting inside. Went to the side but there was a sign saying that the entrance is at the locked doors. After knocking and being confused... More

Staying in Exarchia

Neighbourhood Profile
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
