This was our first meal in Crete and it set the bar high. Great staff, comfortable place, lovely food. Rounded off with complimentary chilled moscato clear dessert wine from Santorini (we think) which we have been trying to find ever since! We chose based on...More

This must be one of the best restaurants we've been to! Beautiful atmosphere, tasty food and really quick and efficient service. The food is presented beautifully and portions are quite generous. Prices slightly higher than other restaurants in the area but it's well worth it!

Dropped by here for a light evening meal after walking past several times earlier this week. Setting is really lovely. Garden is well maintained. The kitchen looks spotless. Menu is not very extensive, but contained enough variety for us to be happy. Quality over quantity....More

Nice place...! Very good food. The best non-botled wine. Great stuff and cook. The best restaurant from Rethymno, until now.

Description
Alana Fresh food straight from the market. Specializing in grilled meat and Cretan cuisineThe restaurant's name derives from the old times. Alana was a place that kids of all the neighbourhood used to join together and play. It was first established in 1986 at the heart of the old town of Rethymno in Salaminos street , the central street under the castle of Fortezza and used to be one of the first tavernas in the area. With 200 seats it was the most crowdy place of the old town. In 2002 under new management, the place transformed to a more relaxing restaurant with 100 seats based on good quality products, attendive service and reasonable prices. Alana made a new beginning, changing totally the style of the restaurant, serving unique dishes of traditional fare in a relaxing setting full of flowers creating the perfect backdrop for a dining experience highlighted by inspired cuisine and impeccable service. The restaurant has attracted both tourists and local people drawn to the superb food, charm and hospitality of its owners. The restaurant serves healthy Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, using products sourced locally, cooked with care and it has been established as one of the best restaurants in town, based on the customers’ reviews. The extensive a la carte menu includes favourites like lamb with artichokes, Cretan smoked pork “apaki” and stuffed vine leaves, chargrilled steaks and beef burgers, grilled vegetables with feta cheese and oregano, wild greens with tomato, garlic and potatoes. Unique home made deserts are also offered.
