The total of 4 meals in this great place have been outstanding. In particular the dinners have been a display of excellent cooking, using local ingredients. Impeccable preparation and presentation was good, with accompanying wines to each dish that was well thought through. The wines are international, but outside the winelist is a list of local craft beers & spirits... More

Good food and friendly staff. Not the widest range of wines but those we had were good. Decor is old fashion, cozy and romantic. Prices are reasonable considering the high quality food.

The menu is so creative with many interesting options of food I had never tried before. However, plenty of options for my vegetarian friend, too. Everything was delicious and the flavors were bold and interesting. I had to force myself not to lick the plate. The service is personal and friendly. I would stop by this town just to return... One of the best dining places in the southern part of Denmark. The kitchen uses mostly local food material. All is well prepared and well served in a friendly way.

This restaurant (combined with the hotel) in a very small town of the rural and worn down island of Lolland (Denmarks West Virginia) has risen to fame via Danish food guru Claus Meyer, who has attracted media attention after taking over and relaunching the restaurant as a local "foodie" destination (primarily focusing on local produce) , attracting tourists from most... Had lunch here with family. The quality was just top notch. Yes it was "just" classic danish food - but this was simply "classics done right" - highly recommended for anyone looking for "danish open sandwich". See attached photo of their fried fish.

Dined at Hotel Saxkjobing Sunday the 22/6/2014 with 3 girlfriends from the UK. The restaurant had confirmed 5 days before that it was possible to cater for a vegetarian for the tasting menu. I had informed my friends about Claus Meyer and his impact on Danish cooking so they had high expectations. When we arrived we reminded the staff about... More

The food in the restaurant of Hotel Saxkjøbing is fantastic. Made from fresh and local produce it is very tasteful. And the prices are attractive. The wines are fine too. the service is very helpful and kind but young.
