The website says the place is open until 19:00 on Saturday (for example) and that the kitchen closes 1 hour before that. We arrived at 18 on Saturday and wanted a cup of tea and the pastry showing in the display case (already made) (the tea is located behind the till/cash register - NOT in the kitchen). We were turned... More

Located right beside the Royal Copenhagen porcelain store in a secluded inner courtyard is this up scale little cafe. Not quiet the day we were there due to some construction right next door, it was still an attractive stop. It took a while to get a waitress to notice us and we saw a couple of tables served before us... More

Inattentive and slow service as usual in Copenhagen, our friends were disappointed because they had a busy day in CPH and had tio wait forever. When you eat, everything is delicious and well presented, tradition with a twist, small portions. Few vegetarian options. It's in the courtyard of the Royal Copenhagen store

We randomly decided to eat a lunch here. The location is nice. The service was disappointing as we had to wait long time before being able to order and every other time we wanted to contact the staff. Several groups of people waited even longer with no-one from the staff approaching their table. Most people left. The smushis were very... More

When in Rome? yes, Copenhagen and smushi- a small size open face sandwich on rye bread (wheat free, almost gluten free) is presented with artisit flair. Don't go if you are very hungry and are expecting huge servings. This is quality dining.

The spot is superb, right on Amagertorv but somewhat secluded on a little square. However we were told rudely not to move any tables. There must be a polite way to point this out, missed chance Royal Cafe.

The environment of the cafe is superb, pink fantasy theme, very well decorated. We ordered smushi and coffee. Food is well presented however the food quality is astonishingly poor. We tried the salmon roe, meat loaf, roast beef and avocado. Salmon is way too salty and very chewy for some reason, the texture of meat loaf is very wrong and... More

We went here for Sunday lunch. We booked a table a few days in advance, but when we showed up the staff were slow to acknowledge us and to seat us and when they did, they had to move us. Service was slow. It seemed they were very busy and possibly understaffed (Hint: hire more waiters for peak times for... More

Enjoyed some really nice coffee and cake here on New Years Eve. There was a queue out the door such is th popularity of the cafe.We were lucky to arrive early and be seated promptly. The sandwich platters looked amazing and we watched th m being photographed all over the cafe because of their quirky and imaginative presentation. I had contact... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.
