We enjoyed a really nice meal here after a day of being on our feet. Felt very "homey" with the decor. An excellent choice and we would definitely eat here again.

We had our first lunch in Copenhague at Maven and highly recommend. The restaurant is beautiful and rustic, and the inside is amazing with huge ceilings, wood panels, beautiful church windows, and wooden floor covered with rich carpets. The outside terrace is also great and...More

My wife and I went for a late morning/early afternoon brunch and found this place to be delightful. The weather was a little chilly so we opted to sit inside, which was fine as it is a renovated church the indoor decor is inspiring. As...More

We often eat lunch a maven. Especially in the summertime when you can sit outside. The last time we were there (In May) we were served truffle butter to our bread basket. We hope they will continue with that because that was a very pleasant...More

We stopped for a late lunch after viewing the exhibit at Nikolai Kunst and were thoroughly delighted. Spouse had 1/2 lobster, I had the cheese plate, we shared fries and a beer. Bread was served with truffle butter. Food was exquisite, service was wonderful. We...More

We had a 3 course meal, and were quite disappointed. The starter was ok - house smoked salmon. The main course was porchetta, advertised as crispy, which it really wasn't, the neighboring table were also complaining about this. Furthermore the serving was undersized. The dessert...More

We took our son for his 18th birthday dinner and had a wonderful evening. The food was fantastic - the best pork I have ever had - the room was very attractive and the service friendly and professional.

Much as we enjoyed the steak frites (his) and tender veal breast with earthy barley, I'd have to say the most distinctive feature of this restaurant is the unusual and cosseting decor. Housed in an old church, Maven has an elegant yet cozy dining room...More

This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its
blend of charming old buildings and bold new
architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well
as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner
city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which
consists of three buildings, two of which are new and

‘Maven – Restaurant & Wine bar’ is a down-to-earth eatery in the Nikolaj Exhibition Building; an old church right in Copenhagen’s solar plexus.

We offer quality wines and good beer at honest prices and classic dishes with an elegant twist, freshly made from the best ingredients.

The place has borrowed the old nickname for the Nikolaj Square; in the 19th Century this was the home of the city’s butcher shops and thus referred to by the locals as ‘Maven’, literally meaning ‘the Stomach’.

We have removed the bloody traces and aired the location, but the informal charm is still here. We treat the stomach without overdoing the gastronomical ambitions.
