This little gem right off the Cathedral was a port in the storm. On a snowy, bitter cold Stockholm day, at the setting of the sun, we were in need of food and warmth. The first thing that drew us was the lovely candlelight both outside and inside the restaurant. We had a delicious Swedish meal. Salad followed by goulash... More

While we were out on a sunny warm day with our good friends from Bastad we found this precious most amazing restaurant in Gamia Stan. The food is delicious and the fish was simply to die for. You must test this unforgettable dish.

Set in a lovely old building in the heart of Gamla Stan, we hungrily wandered in here after watching the changing of the guard. Fairly busy but there was a table upstairs in the corner and we were served quickly. The atmosphere was fantastic, lovely old bric a brac for decoration and plenty of history. Authentic food, had to have... More

The meatball is very soft and tender, warm service. And it's located in 14th century building. Worth a visit. The food are reasonably priced.

Walking around Gamla Stan, looking for a restaurant without an hour's wait and wandered in here. Prices were reasonable, and while looking around for a table they offered us seats "downstairs ". Took a chance and was well rewarded. Food was fabulous (salmon and reindeer ) house wine was perfect and the raspberry pie with custard outstanding. Be sure to... More

We got a table in basement and if you do visit try to get one there. Especially in the smaller of the two rooms. Beautiful chandelier illuminates the room and thick brick walls seem to add extra warmth. Not that it its needed. The staff and the food will do on their own. Not pretentious and the prices reflect that.... More

This is a small restaurant staff are extremely friendly, the food traditional and the service very good. We only had one course but it was very good, no frills, generous portions and reasonable cost. The atmosphere is pleasant and it is in the heart of the old city. Certainly if you are touring the Gamla Stan this is a good... More

Went there with a friend on a raining evening. We had a dessert there. The taste was delicious but there could have been more choices. Personally liked the atmosphere here. The staff is nice and friendly.

Evening meal. Made more special by the approach of the staff - good fun. Quality of our 2 courses was first class. If you don't eat in the cellar section then ask to view. Well worth the trip down the stairs.

My husband and I visited after seeing the sign outside advertising reindeer meat and curiosity got the better of us. When we visited (a Friday lunchtime), there was only one table taken so we were seated immediately and given our choice of table. The waitress was very friendly and spoke perfect English. We both ordered the reindeer roast, which was... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
