I had dinner here with my husband and both agreed that it was the perfect place for a romantic night in Stockholm. We were lucky and given a beautiful table in a romantic corner. They have the perfect lighting and traditional decoration to make your stay special. Food was delicious!! They have a good selection of Swedish cuisine and it... More

We celebrated a friend's birthday at Fem Sma Hus in Gamla Stan, Stockholm Sweden. The restaurant is finely appointed with multiple small rooms for an intimate gathering. The food and service were excellent, and our waiter was very helpful with suggestions to truly enjoy Swedish cuisine. The reindeer and lamb mains were outstanding, as were the starters and desserts. A... More

It feels very touristic in this restaurant. All Swedish classic dishes and old town building. But if you know that is what you are going for this is a good one. Good food. Very old 1500s (?) feeling inside. I take visiting guests to Stockholm here they take a lot of fotos of their food and eat herring, meatballs and... More

We were very pleased with our visit to Fem Sma Hus. Lovely staff, delicious, well prepared traditional Swedish foods, in a very cozy setting. Perfect place to nestle into during the freezing winter's. There is also a charming bar/lounge on the street level, although we didn't try it out. The we loved the old charm of the building!

The husband and I visited Sweden for the first time for my birthday and wanted to find a wonderful venue for my birthday. We happened to discover some amazing reviews on Trip Advisor for this venue so decided to give it a go. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere lively yet still intimate with the candles and little... More

Placed in the old town this cousy restaurant serves Swedish cousine and the service is really professional. The name reflects the small dining rooms in the restaurant. This creates a familiar feeling and most important you do not need to raise your voice to comunicate with each other. The interior is very elegant and the food is of good quality.

We booked this in advance as many reviewers suggested it would be difficult to get in on a Friday. However, being a cold January night the restaurant was only half full so it would not of been a problem. The restaurant is built on different levels and in different rooms in a 17th century building. We sat right down on... More

This was simple Swedish cuisine, beautiful ingredients, prepared well, with few frills. We like that. Herring SOS to start, Reindeer and Veal mains and no room for dessert! Delicious. Quality ingredients and not messed around with. Lovely.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
