I couldn't resist stopping for a coffee and cake with the cold weather outside. A very cosy atmosphere and lovely, respectful staff. My apple pie was delicious, but the chai latte was honestly one of the best I've had! Unless I was just very hungry! People around me were ordering their filled roasted potatis which looked incredible, so i may... More

The place is cosy, beautiful and familiar, with candles and old-fashioned decorations. Two floors, although we have only been on the first one. However, the staff was so serious and impersonal, what shocked me in this familiar and original café. In addition, the food (we ordered a coffee, a hot chocolate and two pieces of blackberry cakes) was heavy and... More

Just in front of the all photogenic Alfred Nobel Museum, this place is buzzing with people, but you cannot see it from outside. It's in the basement where the real fun lies. We sat beneath heavy rocks, candles lit on the booths and archaic wall mounts. Smiling chefs served an overly packed audience. Their patience was heart winning and overwhelming.... More

I had a hot chocolate, which was the best. The waitress wasn't really friendly and we were first in Chokladkoppen but that was already full. We took a sandwich, it was really big but not a lot of cheese on it in comparison to the amount of bread on the plate. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend their sandwiches.

Walking in gamla stan in stortorget we found this small coffee shop. We sat down in the basement in a old sitting space. You can take on coffee and a sweat or eating a snack. Regularly prices about 40 Swedish cronor a cappuccino and 48 a hot chocolate.

We stopped here on a chilly day during our visit to Gamla Stan. The staff were so friendly the girl waiting on us offered to let us try different types of potato and seafood salads they had. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! Don't be afraid to try anything here. Savory and homemade taste. We will be back!

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
