This is certainly the best cafe in Old Town! It's has a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and amazing food! We ate here a couple times during our trip. The staff even reserved the last piece of Swedish Vanilla Cake for us so we could try it. Highly recommend this cafe if you're looking for a quiet spot to read a... More

Located in Gamla Stan; had a great lunch (soup and sandwiches) at this cafe/bakery on a side street; you order, they bring you your food and then you find a table (note that there are more table downstairs).

Had two very good meals at this restaurant. Chose local dishes, Reindeer and the Meat balls. Both very good. Need to book to guarantee a table as it does not always open up all the tables. Service was good and was allowed a wine tasting to choose the wine that i wanted with my meal.

We came here for a wine tasting. And just kept coming back! The wines are well paired with the food in ways you would never expect. Joakim was wonderful and Theres could not have been more welcoming. We cannot wait to come back on our next trip!

The location is in the heart of Gamla Stan. The top floor of the place is quite small but they have more tables in the bottom floor which we ended up sitting in. Too bad the bottom is more like a basement so there was no windows and we couldn't enjoy the beautiful views of the city. They've also got... More

Stockholm is an expensive city so this place was a great find in Gamla Stan. We had a tasty creamy chicken dish with rice which came with complimentary water, bread and tea/coffee. Good value for money. There were some lovely cakes on offer but didn't get to try those.

Gorgeous cafe, lovely owner. Half the options are gluten free and made in a separate gluten free kitchen. Sanwhich, yoghurt and a coffee for 70 sek. I wish we'd found this beauty at the start of our trip!

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
