Had to wait 10 minutes for a table of four but well worth it. Two choices vegetarian or meat and both were very good, hot, filling and value for money!!!

There was no leaving Iceland without trying this soup in a bread bowl. They had two different soups that day. A Creamy Broccoli and Cauliflower and a Meat Soup with lamb, peas and couple other ingredients. I couldn't have come on a better day because both of those soups sounded great. We got one of each and the flavor was... More

Wonderful beer to drink and if peckish 2 soups to pick from, both contained within a scooped out huge bread roll. Queues out the door tell you everything you need to know.... oh and there's no WIFI - you're encouraged to talk to one another - fab...!

Friendly staff in Reykjavik is here only! The soup is good and served very nicely into a bowl of bread (that you can eat completely if you are hungry). Every night two different soup, one for vegetarian. Ours were minestrone and meat soup (a bit too spicy for my taste, but pleasant). The service is very quick, do not be... More

We went here with two Iceland natives. The "South American meat soup" was tasty but there was definitely not much soup to the bread bowl. Portion size was very small & the Icelandic people we were with said it doesn't taste like the traditional meat soup of Iceland. Quick & friendly service, but $$$ for the amount of soup you... More

Sverta Kaffid lived up to expectations when it comes to a relatively affordable meal at 1800 ISK in expensive Reykjavik. Grab a seat by the window and enjoy a delicious bread bowl of hot soup on a cold day and people watch over busy Laugavegur street. In a country famous for lamb meat and lobster soup, Sverta Kaffid offers diners... More

This place is amazing! Although, they had only two soups that day when I came in, one of them was my favourite - mushroom cream soup. I honestly think that it actually was the best mushroom soup I had in a long time. I really wanted to come back, but didn't have time. Hopefully, I will be able to visit... More

We had dinner here one late afternoon and whilst it was pretty busy, we were served very quickly after being offered a choice of a meat based soup and a vegetarian soup. I love how they focus on two options and do it very well. The soup comes served in a hollowed out crusty cob loaf which you can eat.... More

Great place to grab lunch on a cold winter's afternoon. Reasonably priced for Iceland. Soup was amazing, and the bread bowl was just as satisfying. If I return to Iceland I will return to Svarta Kaffid

On a snowy afternoon, we looked up for good restaurants around the Reykjavik city centre and we found this gem. Its a small and cosy place, yes they are very busy and dont take reservations. When we reached, they just had the mushroom soup. The concept of soup in bread appealing, but the taste does not let you down. Decent... More
