We planned on visiting the place at some point but happened to stumble upon it after walking around Reykjavík. We had the hotdogs with everything on and they were a delicious snack to put us on for the rest of our walk around that day.

We went in the morning shortly after they opened as we had a tour planned for later. The hot dog did not disappoint. They have a unique flavor and we were glad that we had the Icelandic hot dog experience.

As a local, I think Baejarins Bestu is by far the best food in Reykjavik. It is great to grab a quick hot dog when walking around downtown. This is a gem that everyone should try.

I grew up a Phillies fan and ate the dogs that swam in the murky water from opening day. These are much better and have a wonderful combination of mustard, ketchup, and a sweet mayo/maple like substance on top. They also load sweet onions that...More

Tiny little food cart tucked away near the Harpa. It is bright red, has very little seating and no protection from the weather BUT it is a darn good dog. The toasted, crunchy bun and the unique flavor of the mustard makes the dog a...More

Baejarins beztu pylsur (English: The best hot dog in town) often shortened to simply "Baejarins beztu", is a popular hot dog stand in central Reykjavik, Iceland. In August 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian selected Baejarins beztu as the best hot dog stand in Europe. The majority of Icelanders have eaten at Baejarins beztu. It's downtown near the harbor and has been open since 1937. Foreign visitors are often brought to the stand to introduce them to the hot dogs there, which are often called "the Icelandic national food." Among famous people who have eaten at Baejarins beztu are Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, and James Hetfield, vocalist of the popular heavy metal band Metallica. A hot dog condiments include ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remoladi, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Hot dogs are often ordered with "the works," i.E., All condiments, or in Icelandic "eina med ollu".
