I like to try local food when I travel and the food here really tasted like a home cooked meal at a traditional Icelandic home. It’s a cafeteria like restaurant so mostly self service but everyone there speaks English perfectly and good at explaining the...More

This was one of only two restaurants my husband ate in while in Iceland. (Most of the time we prepared our own meals in our apartment.) We had lunch here while hanging out in Reykjavik for the day. Other reviewers have called it a buffet;...More

We were in Reykjavik for the midnight run and we're looking for a place to eat before the race and found this family style restaurant. The food was traditional and excellent. The staff were helpful and gracious. We knew we had a winner when we...More

Run by women happy to introduce newbies to authentic Icelandic home cooking. Soup to dessert cafeteria style, with many choices for each course. Simple but substantial food in a modern Scandanavian style dining area. Closes early, so check out hours.

This place is a buffet style home cooked restaurant where you pay for the highest priced item ordered. The food was exceptional and the cod with onion butter sauce was phenomenal. You get unlimited rounds so I got 2 orders of the cod. The lamb...More

This is not fine dining. The informal cafeteria style restaurant is frequented by locals. I came here for lunch. Just 2 minutes from the Hilton Nordica. The formula is very simple. There were three main courses on offer on this particular day, roast lamb, beef...More

If you want a more reasonably priced meal - come here. If you want generous portions - come here. If you want some traditional ‘home cooked’ Icelandic food - come here! Really friendly, canteen style dining, obviously popular with the locals and is becoming more...More

This is a cafeteria-style dining room. I think they serve dinner starting at 5:30 and have about 4-5 entrees available. The menus are all in Icelandic so it was a good thing we arrived a bit early so they could explain what the entrees were....More

Chances upon this eating place just near our hotel(The Lotus). Described as typically Icelandic, for only £16 each, we had tasty soup, delicious fried halibut in very light seasoned batter with salad buffet, followed by coffee and cake. It’s self service and the ambience is...More

We wanted to try Icelandic food and we found Mulakaffi- so worthwhile! It was really cheap compared to other places we stopped at and we got to try fermented shark, whale and other Icelandic delicacies. The best part was dining with the locals, who all...More

You could probably get just the vegetables/sides from the main meal, but it would not be *strict* vegetarian.

You can get seconds of whatever your main meal...so if you had fish the first time you cannot have meat as a second only more fish. Salad and soup all you can eat. We did not have drinks, only water, coffee is included.
