We stumbled upon this amazing place wondering through the colourful streets of Reykjavik. The reddy orange colour stood out from behind the building in front and after a quick glance at the menu we knew this was the place we wanted to spend our one and only dinner out at. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. Best meal we've ever had, the staff... More

This restaurant was recommended by a friendly acquaintance. It is difficult to find - right off the main shopping street, hidden behind another building. We had a reservation for dinner after a day of hiking and outdoor fun. Due to the driving distance, we didn't have time to change from our ski jackets prior to dinner. The staff said nothing,... I usually hate hyperbole, but this restaurant was the scene for the best meal of my life. Everything was really well prepared and seasoned. Everything was fresh and had such depth of flavor. The design and presentation of the food was a thing of beauty. Ask the host to seat you downstairs. The view is better and the ambiance was... More

We went for dinner and loved it. The bill ended up being the largest we have ever paid, but we didn't feel jipped or anything. We loved the atmosphere, our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful, and the food was delicious. The bread and butter alone was really good. I had the beef tenderloin and a side of corn on... Quite honestly, my meal here was one of the best meals I've ever had. I can't fault anything - the restaurant itself was beautiful, stylish with a chilled atmosphere and open kitchen which was fun to watch. The food was incredible, I had the lamb kebab with a side of garlic potatoes and green salad. Everything was done to perfection,... More

We did not have plans for dinner - and stumbled upon this gem. We were offered a table booth that was downstairs in this beautifully decorated spot. Everything served was excellent- the lamb was exquisite! A friend's dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy free) were met without issue. The server and chef made substitutions without any question. Highly recommend this gem!

This restaurant was excellent. My son is allergic to milk products and peanuts. They had an entire separate menu of dairy free options for him. It was wonderful that he could have chosen anything from his menu!

The lamb was the best we've ever eaten. This was our favorite dinner on our trip. The service was great, the place looks great and food was delicious. Make sure to visit the restrooms downstairs!

Went for a nice dinner at Grillmarkaðurinn. Scallops for starters and beef tenderloin for main. It was all nice and OK. The bread is excellent and the whipped butter is brilliant. Underpreforming on portion size versus sause and greens. All in all a nice evening.

I would like to share my experience dining at Grillmarkadurinn in early February. This particular establishment seems to win praise from many of their guests based on the number of guests dined at this restaurant when we got there. Since this was my first visit in the restaurant, I spent my time looking at the menu while listening to some... More
