The food here is top class. We wen't here for happy hour beers and ended up doing the four course set menu (twice!). Highly recommend the set menu option. The staff are attentive and service is good too. Highly recommend.

We found this place by chance in our last night in Reykjavik and so glad we did. Food is delicious!!! After getting sick of the ridiculous prices of food this was a great place with good prices. We shared one of the 4 course set menus and the mussels, which is plenty of food for 2 people, and a beer... More

It was our last night and we had looked for a good restaurant on trip advisor. This was a great choice. They do a set menu with 4 different dishes, or you can pick and choose from the menu. The waiters were great and gave us time to choose and offered us advice on the dishes and the local beer.... More

Had a brilliant experience at Forrettabarinn, having been recommended it by our local Icelandic Airbnb host. Good location, amazing food and friendly staff. Happy hour was 5-7pm for more affordable drinks. Would recommend the lamp dish - was delicious! It wasn't a cheap meal but it was no more expensive than any where else we visited in Reykjavik! And given... More

OK - so lets get the only (common) negative out of the way first. Its expensive, thats Iceland in 2017, so if you are visiting, be prepared for that. So - we have eaten here two evenings - rare for us not to venture more widely. Meal one was superb - the Lamb being the most tender I think I... More

I enjoy eating at the bar when I am on my own, so when I walked by on my quest for nourishment and noticed an interesting menu and seats at the bar, I figured this was the place. Glad I stopped. One of the bartenders asked me what kind of beer I was interested in and made a recommendation for... More

We were in looking for somewhere to eat and came across this place by chance. It's down the road from Mattur og Drikkur which everyone wants to eat in following Rick Stein's visit. However, it was a Saturday night and we suspected it would be fully booked. When we entered Forrettabarinn it was really busy but they said they could... More

Excellent experience at this restaturant in the Old Harbor area of Reykjavik! Great dinner to please everyone except the worst of critics. Good value & all dishes we had were perfectly prepared & presented. Very nice atmosphere, comfortable lighting; busy but still relaxed. One in our party thought the service was a little slow they but hey were very busy... More
