My husband and I stepped into this Steakhouse after getting the recommendation from our tour guide. We were not disappointed! Our server, Fredrico, was fun and attentive, helping us on our journey of being stuffed and not sober when we left. The food was delicious and worth every penny. If you're looking for a spot to have that special vacation... More

We ate here on our first night in Reykjavik. the service was generally good although we did wait a while for dessert. The steaks were lovely but be warned all sides are extra so it can be quite a pricy meal. However we did enjoy our meal.

Visited here last night with 6 of us and we had a very enjoyable meal! Firstly it is expensive, the wine is very expensive and a half decent bottle of red will set you back around £65-80, however the ambience, service and the general vibe do make it a special meal. We tried reindeer and whale for the first time... More

I didn't think I would wait long at all (very impatient person) but I would wait all day for one of these steaks! We visited mid week and so only a few full tables but was so lovely and quiet. Waiters (and waitress) very attentive. Brilliant frozen daiquiri in a proper glass (fish bowl my favourite!) and although the wait... More

Service, food, deco, friendliness... this restaurant had it all!!! Would wholeheartedly recommend! Read reviws of the place beforehand and it lived up to the well-earned reputation. The testing menu was superb!

We had the most amazing Icelandic horse and lamb at this restaurant. If we ever go back to Reykjavik we will eating here again. They were packed every night we walked by, the prices are high but its so good its well worth the few extra bucks.

What a great place this is. A nice cosy atmosphere, great service. The steaks are delightful, perfectly cooked, well presented and so so good. A good menu with lots of choice. Good wines, beers and cocktails. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening in here.

We were in the mood one night for steak and immediately came across this place. Loved that it was near downtown and just off the port where the boats come in. The ambience of the place was great, modern decor and comfortable. We started with a appetizer sampler that included reindeer samosas and minke whale tartare. We all had the... More

This restaurant was listed as one of the few opened on New Years Day and it was so good! Everything in Reykjavik is expensive and this restaurant definitely was as well. We really wanted a good filling meal and to try local food. My husband and I split the reindeer steak with a red wine mushroom sauce - which wasn't... More

On our first night in Reykjavik it was pouring down with rain so we didn't venture far from the hotel for dinner. We came across this steak restaurant and as my husband doesn't eat fish it had a good choice for both of us. I had one of the small steaks and my husband had the beef burger (both felt... More

Description
A five story concrete building that once housed offices on the upper floors and a metalwork company on the ground floor, now is the home of restaurant The Steakhouse on the ground floor, the four floors above are now apartments. The old harbor area of Reykjavik has in the last couple of years, changed in to a real gem where various cuisines, museums and arts and crafts have replaced the metalworks and fisheries. The newest addition is STEIKHÚSIÐ, which simply means „The Steak House”. The name is a deliberately this simple and descriptive, the aim is to be the only steakhouse you think of after the first visit. The heart of Steikhúsið is the coal oven from Mibrasa and the soul is our own way of tendering meat for at least 28 days. Those who seek for something purely Icelandic won’t be disappointed, Steikhúsið also caters to those who want the best of Icelandic lamb and fish.
