Everything is expensive in Iceland, so spending over ISK 11000 for three dishes plus naan did not really strike me as completely out of line for the location. However, food at those prices usually comes with a classy atmosphere and super service, and neither of those is part of the Shalimar experience. There is table service, but the overall feeling... Came on here to write a positive review, and find it quite interesting that there are negative reviews too. Just goes to show that not everyone's views are the same! Called in on our first night, as the "dish of the day" (which also included a vegetarian option for my daughter) seemed very reasonably priced compared to other places we'd... More

It must be said that the seating is TIGHT. There is not much room. The staff is OK, in terms of service. Despite the lack of crowd, our server visited twice - to take our order and to give us the bill (after flagging her down to request it). The food is good. The lack of spice and flavor can... More

Small and cozy place. Prices in Iceland are EXPENSIVE overall ( even for me from NYC!) Plates were HUGE and very good tasting. Fast and friendly service

Apart from value for money, everything is SO expensive in Iceland, this tiny place was pleasant, good service, yum food, worthy of a recommendation on here. Just wish it was half the price. Cost us around $70AuD for 2 people for Indian and no frilly extras

People need to realise that the curries they are accustomed to in their country (particularly the UK) are modified dishes for our tastes e.g the "Tikka Masala" was actually invented in Glasgow! So when you have an Indian curry in a different country, then one must make allowances for the fact it will taste completely different from what you are... More

Went here last night as on previous night we had been to Gandhi around the corner where food was amazing . The food was disgusting and didn't even look "right " The chicken madras was yellow in colour and looked more like a Korma . It looked nothing like a madras and as we tried it hesitantly it was completely... More

Very poor food and similar from staff. Not sure why anyone would give this a good review. Its not the high quality and taste I'm used to from UK Indian restaurants. We ate at the Fish & Chip shop round the corner the next day which was great value and quality.
