15 years since I have been to the horseshoe , wish I had returned sooner!! Hubby and I went for a romantic meal . First impressions were that it maybe a bit oldy world but the overall feel of the place is that it's good old fashioned service and has a very relaxing ambience. We opted for the tasting menu... Superb place to visit for a meal. Our visit started with a seat in the lounge by the wood burning stove with a drink while perusing the menu. Then when WE were ready we made our way to the restaurant to be treated to a better than first class dining experience, the food was presented as if we were judging... More

I have absolutely no idea what the latest review could possibly have to do with reality. Dirty? The whole place was spotless. Personally I can't rate this restaurant highly enough. Lovely, knowledgeable staff; truly astounding food, with all the finesse of higher-priced restaurants with all the coveted stars; great matching wines; and beautiful surroundings, both inside and out. Highly, highly,... More

Avoid this place (both the restaurant and the rooms). Disappointing, overpriced food. Dirty. Lacking atmosphere. Poor response to complaints.

The Hospitality Industry is all about people - patrons and staff. The Horseshoe has a well respected reputation for delivering a quality product and I'm pleased to say that our patrons recognise the commitment and dedication of the team. Very occasionally, we find the odd exception and when that happens, there is not much one can do. In this particular... More

....and I don't mean the food! Stayed for 2 nights in the rooms associated with the restaurant (adequate, comfy bed, but room was a little cramped and TV didn't work and couldn't be fixed in a timely fashion) As for the restaurant: Delightful, helpful staff, friendly and accommodating. The setting is somewhat surprisingly old fashioned, despite the age of the... More

This was booked as a celebration meal from our family. We had a table in an area by ourselves but still felt the buzz of the restaurant. We chose the taster menu with matching wines. The meal was delicious as were the wines and excellent, attentive but not intrusive service. A wonderful evening, enjoyed by all.

This is a gem of a restaurant with rooms. Superlatives abound. From our arrival and greeted by a very charming Mark, who showed us to our room, which was very comfortable and had everything the heart desires from robes and slippers to a very comfortable bed, mad up with blankets as we requested. We were invited for tea and cake... More

We ate here as a party of 6 adults & 2 kids (nearly 2 & 5 yrs). We were staying in Cardrona & having just arrived we were looking for somewhere to eat. My husband & dad found The Horseshoe on google & said it was a nice pub with good food!! It is not a pub serving food! It... More

As part of a party of 4 locals we tried this restaurant after a absence of a number of years . On the positive side it is a lovely cosy atmosphere both in the bar and restaurant with very attentive and knowledgeable staff . The wine list is superb with a great selection by the glass. The main culprit on... More

Description
Relaxed, easy dining is offered here at The Horseshoe Inns Bistro, a low key alternative to the sumptuous Bardoulets Restaurant, which has made The Horseshoe famous on the Scottish dining scene. Cosy and rustic, the Bistro is centered around a wood paneled main bar with small round tables edged by linen covered chairs, dark wood original beams overhead and a wood fired stove throwing out warmth just perfect for those cold Scottish winters. A regularly changing menu allows acclaimed chef Patrick Bardoulet to tackle favourite classics from throughout Europe but with his trademark creative twist, using excellent seasonal ingredients from the many excellent producers Scotland has to offer. A childrens menu is available throughout the day, with equally carefully created dishes introducing small gastronomes to the world of good food. Meanwhile, the bar stocks an array of excellent ales well suited to the casual dining approach offered by The Horseshoe Inn Bistro.
