Upon reading the rave reviews for this restaurant, we made a reservation for the end of our week in Valletta. After eating night after night in great restaurants (Capistrano, Pastaus, di Carafa, Taproom), we were not bowled over by our meal at Rubino. If anything, our experience at Rubino did not compare favorably with other restaurants: the service wasn't great... More

This was my second time to Malta and my second time to Rubino! The staff and owners are attentive and always on hand to help anyone with an allergy (my partner). The food is amazing! You must try the rabbit dish or the ribeye (both of which I rate as the best in Valletta) I'll be back next time I'm... More

We had a family meal at Rubino's last night on the recommendation of a friend. He wasn't wrong. I am going to be dreaming of the Pork with honey and thyme for some time to come. A delicious three course meal with some really excellent recommendations on local wine. The Owner was attentive and hands on. Nothing was too much... More

Cosy restaurant (though bigger than it looks from the street - it goes down into the cellars) with very good local cooking. Tasty, fresh, very good service. Rabbit is good as is the fish.

In a quiet side street in Valletta Rubino is well known to the locals. In the small back basement there are a few tables so booking is essential. Interesting dishes with a good selection of meat, fish and pasta. All ingredients are fresh and the restaurant really cares about good food. We had the local fish Gurbel a local meaty... More

I understand that this restaurant is somewhat of an institution, and I understand why. the chefs produce outstanding cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and Toni is very good about explaining the dishes. It is not the restaurant's fault, but there were too many loud British tourists for my taste, asking for things like "fish and chips"....Enough said.

This is a small and slightly quirky restaurant, one street away from one of the main streets in Valletta. We'd booked because I'd read the reviews on trip advisor and we were not disappointed. This is great quality food, done fairly simply but very, very well. I had the asparagus to start and my husband had the risotto, which I... More

Popped into Rubino (named after the shop that used to be here) after an afternoon of wondering around Valletta. Owned by a Maltese, the menu is for the most part traditional to the island - and none the worst for it. I had razor clam pasta (very well cooked, nicely spicy) followed by the rabbit, which was a delightfully sticky... More

We ended up dining in Rubino based upon the recommendation of a business partner. We weren't disappointed, the food and service was exceptional. I would definitely make a point of visiting here again if I had the chance.
