We were not aiming for this restaurant when we arrived in Mortagne but our first target for lunch was closed. And we are very happy it was!!! The man who looked after us at this restaurant could not have been more helpful and friendly if he had tried. We were a large group and he moved tables for us quickly.... More

Have eaten here quite a few times over the last few years and the food is always really good and decent value. Would recommend if you are in the area looking for something to eat.

Lovely place in a pretty location. Bi lingual staff. Have eaten here a few times and enjoyed the food. Inexpensive house wine and the food is never hurried, one thing I sadly miss when eating out in England. Lunchtime menu is good value.

Delightful little restaurant, very welcoming, charming staff and good prices. Smallish but interesting menu. My prawns were HUGE and my husband said his fish soup was the best he'd ever tasted. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Situated at the port which in itself is worth a visit, the restaurant offers a variety of choices, We had the 20€ menu which included 3 courses. The goats cheese salad starter was a meal in itself. We chose duck for the main & creme brulee for dessert, both of which were delicious. House wine was a little expensive for... More

Very friendly local restaurant. We all had the 20 euro menu which was very good value.I had the six oysters but was very disappointed to find only five worked(I wish). It was so good we went back again for another meal two nights later .It's a beautiful spot on a lovely little harbour.

I visited on sunday lunchtime, have been there 6 years ago. And was impressed, but this time found it very average. 3 of us had the bavette steak which was tasteless and chewey, yes I know bavette is a cheaper cut. Also, we had a very long wait between courses. The creme brulee was spot on, apart from the very... More

We visited this restaurant twice while staying in Mortagne and had two excellent meals. We were a party of five and were made to feel very welcome both times. The chips are to die for and have a special taste. Would definitely recommend a visit and great value for money

Have been here a couple of times, first time lucky to get a seat outside, delicious meal. Second time, with friends, we sat inside, but that was partly through choice, too hot outside! Had the 12 euro set menu, delicious and great value! My third visit, in April this year (2014), we arrived at 13.15, full outside but tables inside,... More

Cafe de la rive (or chez Gigis) is a typical French restaurant in the delightful fishing port of Mortagne sur Gironde. One of the few in the area which is open all year round it serves typical local French produce and the three course 20 euro menu (e.g. Goats cheese salad, bavette steak and frites, good choice of desserts) is...
