The advantage of travelling alone is that you are able to forage and explore cities at your own pace and following your own priorities and preferences. Bright lights down an alleyway seem to call me into the warmth of this Keller and out of the November chill. Prompt service provided beer that I could enjoy while I perused a somewhat... More

a true Beisel - a simple restaurant, narrow choice of simple food, tasty enough, relaxed after long walks and visits in the city; lively, full of locals and tourists, centrally located, affordable. have already reviewed - this time we have stayed inside / "underground"; you will smell your visit from your clothes after returning to the hotel... ;) but when... This is a place you cannot miss in Vienna! It is not a fine restaurant, it is a true old Viennese place and it is still like it was probably 300 years ago. If you go with that spirit then they really deserve the 5 stars!! Food is traditional as they are, the place is so authentic. The play live... More

We passed this place while planning on eating at a top rated restaurant that turned out to be far too trendy for us. Came back here and so glad we did. Set into a true cellar, so small and intimate and not rushed. Very good food and plenty of it. good basic Austrian fare and very good service. Cash only... More

If you are looking for a good original winerschnitzel you will not be dissapointed if you go here. Good cold potatosallad is served with the dish and really takes it to another level. A restaurang that feels genuine österich with not to many tourists. It is some steep steps/stairs down to the "Keller" and if you make it you will... More

I've been some days in Vienna and it was hard to find a good real austrian food, with quality (not those greasy schnitzels you find everywhere...), in a place attended by locals and a fair price. And then I found Esterhazykeller, a place you eat good food, the staff is friendly and made me feel like a viennesse ! I... More

Well this is a good restaurant with quite a good service, nice food and not expensive. You can also find sea food and I had a very good cooked trout.

It was a rainy evening, and we stumbled on this place and it was delightful. The acoustics in the room let us hear all the Austrian being spoken, and obviously a local favorite. We had Frittatensuppe ( a beef soup with what they described in English as sliced pancakes, actually more like noodles.) I hope I'm spelling that right. Also... More

I went there for dinner in August 2016. The food is really good and delicious. There is a little variety of dishes. The ambiance is really good and peaceful. The prices are a bit high. They do not accept credit cards! only cash.

Description

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
