The interior is quite eclectic, but nicely put together. It is a very large place, offering many seating possibilities and each with its own unique environment (bar setting, winter garden, restaurant, lounge, ...). The food is tasty, but the staff attitude leaves alot to be desired. It is definitely worth a visit though!

Been here few times for the breakfast while visited Wien. Very cozy and lovely place. Good coffee and drinks, great breakfast options and nice staff. Hope to be back also for the lunch or evening drinks!

Went with a friend for Sunday cocktails and lunch. We both had the calamari and it was fantastic. Served warm with chorizo and tomato base. Very tasty and efficient. Lunch along with two cocktails and two glasses of vertlina cake to £62. Which is reasonable for the quality.

Hello, my partner and I visited the Freiraum establishment this evening and we're overwhelmed with the lively atmosphere and ambience in a bar near central Vienna on a Tuesday evening. The cocktails were of London prices but very professional and the service, although slow was fairly acceptable for a bar of this energetic and vibrent atmosphere. But PLEASE do not... More

A smoker friendly establishment (w/ a non smoking area). Located near Westbahnhof. Has a wide array of drinking options including a unusually high number of cocktails and mocktails. The food is unexpectedly good, which I've been convinced of on multiple occasions. The best thing though is that they work until 2am.

I have to say I was surprised with this place! From the outside nothing shows you that inside is such a nice place for a coffee! If we didn't go there with our friend I doubt it we would ever came here. Anyway... 1) biggest disadvantage is that you have to cross the smoking area to get to the non... More

Usual minimalistic design. Offerings obviously in high demand. Bar staff on the ignorant side of attention. Restaurant staff competent. Bit overwhelmed by workload. Ample choice of foods and drinks. Large, tasty portions. Adequately priced.

Ideal to hang out in Vienna for a number of the reasons mentioned. Pizza is 5*. Thai food is 4* (some flavors missing). Salmon 5* . No dark beer :-( But overall, the experience is 5*

Large place with different services: restaurant, bar... spent New Year's Eve with the special menu. The service was good and the food too. A bit too experimental for my taste, somewhat small portions, but definitely good food. Worth a visit

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
