Stopped off for a late breakfast on our first day in Vienna. Very expensive for what you get and the staff are disinterested, not so much rude, but coldly efficient and not in a hurry. The cakes look amazing, although we did not try any,...More

I say it's a must do as it's an infamous cafe. Lovely decor. Staff were very pleasant and efficient. Had a coffee (small pot) and one of their cakes. €5 each. For a tenner it's a nice little treat.

OVER RATED! Very attractive but living on its past history. Stale service help, disinterested in the customer; that is not charm but simply rudeness. There are many good places to drink coffee and eat cake in Vienna.

We had cake and coffee for breakfast and will be back shortly to sample a savoury breakfast too. The surroundings are wonderful and opulent and the service is spot-on.

A historic and beautiful cafe where you can eat breakfast, lunch, dinner or just stop for coffee, cake and a newspaper read. We had dinner, which was excellent. Great service in a wonderful and relaxed environment.

Don’t be afraid to step inside and take in the grand old dining room. Take a selfie and depart. The staff is quite used to it and accepts it as their civic duty. Better yet stay for coffee and desert it is uniquely wonderdul

Description
This famous traditional café with its 130 year history was first opened in 1876 and at the turn of the 20th century it was a popular meeting point for leading lights in the world of art, literature, politics and science such as Arthur Schnitzler, Sigmund Freud, Peter Altenberg and Leo Trotzki. Then, like today, the legendary literature café was a meeting point for all ages, regular guests, Viennese locals and visitors. Unique architecture combined with the best coffee specialities, classic Viennese cuisine and finest home-made pastries make every visit a special experience. Daily Live Piano Music from 5pm on! Reservations are strongly recommended to avoid waiting time - upon availability. Many thanks in advance for your understanding!
