We visited on Saturday evening 19th March. We had a window table which was booked by my husband for my birthday weekend. I agree that dry bread in a brown paper bag with whipped butter is not top end dining and certainly not worth €5! Generally the service was very slow and portions very small. You really are paying for... More

This is great place to get a drink or two after a long walk around the city centre. This bar is on the top floor of Sofitel hotel. You have to go to the 18th floor. The roof of this bar is the highlight, plus the view over the city at night/day. The price is reasonable, not cheap nor too... More

Do not believe any of the excellent, fabulous, or even good reviews as they have been written by people who have never been to a top end first class restaurant. Avoid this place like the plague. Before eating here I had remarked that every restaurant in Vienna we had eaten at was superb, so try anywhere but here. Go for... More

Came here for the view and hoped to have a good meal but only got a good view. The food looked exquisite but was seriously lacking in flavor/taste. Ordered a pasta appetizer which was flavorless, fish main meal which was okay, and the dessert was a toffee creme brulee which was AWFUL. I would come for lunch and have a... More

I've booked a table for dinner 3 weeks in advance to see a client of mine. Me and two of my colleagues arrived at the restaurant 5:50pm (we came down from London to see the client). At the reception we told the lady the name of the booking and that we expected guests to arrive. She walked us to the... More

We dinned here last night for my birthday, it was amazing! The views alone are outstanding! We started with cocktails at the bar, great friendly bartenders! Then headed to a table in the restaurant which wasn't quite the table my husband had wanted but as we hadn't booked in advance we felt lucky just to be there! However our wonderful... More

I took my husband for a birthday lunch, it was fab. The staff are so attentive, the food was great and we had the cocktail sharer which was 3 small tasters each, good fun and amazing views thrown in.

We visited Das Loft for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We felt very nice as we entered the restaurant on the 18th floor which is completely glazed and offers a massive view of the Vienna city. Since we had reserved in advance we were welcomed and escorted to nicely situated dimly lit table. The chairs are revolving allowing you... More

The view is magnificent. Get out of the elevator, look around, enjoy the view and leave, or go to the bar for a drink. The restaurant is extremely overpriced, the portions minuscule and not qualitative in any proportion to the expense. The wait staff was very polite and friendly. Before the meal bread and butter were served. The bread was... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
