I chose this cafe to wait for my friend close to the opera house. I liked the service. The staff were helpful. I enjoyed my drink in the smoking section.

Located opposite the Opera House, this café has more melamine than opulence but it's prices and fare were good. It's nice to see more locals than tourists in an establishment. It's menus are "German style" (no prices) but you are not in for any nasty surprises.

We were looking late at night a place for a dessert. This cafe was open. The waiter told us very politly that they were closing in 10 min. We promise to be fast; ordered an apflestrudel with vanilla icecream; it came warm and perfect. It was delicious. Price was good and place its just in front of the Opera.

This was not a good experience.DO NOT visit. The waiting staff are appallingly rude. We witnessed waiters verbally abusing and physically assaulting customers. I cannot believe this cafe is still in business.

Great location by the Opera House but the service was slow and unfriendly and the food average at best. Will not be revisiting.

An average, but cosy cafe. Located opposite the Opera. Service is not quick, but this can be discussed. In Austria many people say "No stress please". People visit cafe or restaurant to enjoy food and communication:) Stuff was quite polite. Coffee good, desert also nice. Great place for a business meeting.

The cafe itself is beautifully situated directly across from the famous Vienna opera and its a nice place to get a feel for Vienna and enjoy a coffee, breakfast, drink, etc However, the waitress we encountered was very unfriendly and rather rude. Our friend had just returned from getting money out of an ATM and she sat down halfway through... More

We breakfasted there three times in five days, sitting outside. It was across the road from the opera house and a tramstop, yet despite the nearby bustle where we sat was quite relaxed. On the first occasion the waiter said "we speak English here, you know" when I tried to say a few words in German. (Not the only time... More

This is one of the must do's for an authenic Viennese experience. We went in winter and even though it was still crowded at times (as all coffee houses are), the staff were wonderful (attentive and efficient) . We never felt "moved on" - beautiful coffee / cakes and atmosphere. Highly recommended

I went there with a group of friends and the waiter who invited us inside set the table for the entire group. At first he seamed a little unfriendly, but we thought that it's just tired. Unfortunately, he continued to be unfriendly and grumpy and all culminated with us being moved (after the food was brought...so with plates and glasses)... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
