This place is amazing. It's a bit tough to find but worth the effort. Best soft pretzel on the planet. We also really liked the apple strudel. The interior has a unique ambience, especially in the lower floor section. Our waitress was very nice and spoke great English so we left her a nice tip. If you're near the city... More

Amazing good. Very very reasonably priced. Huge portion of meat and side. I ordered the fried chicken and native soda drink. Service was good. I went here upon the high recommendation of my friend. Not a tourist trap like the big name place that serves schnitzels with long history. Will revisit this next time I am back in town.

As a local it's sometimes hard to get typical food from your country, most places are too touristic. Brezlgwölb is my favorite place for years, with great Austrian food, located very central and with a nice and cosy flair. I recommend to go for lunch, in the evening it's sometimes a bit crowded so the waiting times can get long.... More

We wanted typical Austrian dishes so this was perfect. A building with much history. Good beer too. we were made to feel very welcome.

Tucked away around a corner near judenplatz, this little restaurant looks tiny, but there is plenty of room downstairs. Traditional Austrian dishes are served. The garlic soup was very tasty and the goulash was really good. Thick and hearty with traditional dumplings. Staff were efficient.

Brezl Gwölb is one of Vienna's best places to try Viennese food! It is hard to locate but worth the effort. There is a variety of great plates to choose from and the staff is very helpful. The interior is beautiful; there are two dining levels - downstairs is like a cellar with romantic candlelight! It is not cheap, but... More

We have been here twice with a tour group. We had great service and fantastic meals! We also enjoyed the ambience of inside dining as well as outside dining. Highly recommend this restaurant!

My wife and I stumbled across this place looking for some dinner on a Friday night. We found a brilliant corner table tucked away downstairs. The food was authentic Austrian and very tasty, and our waiter was great. I will definitely recommend friends to visit this place 👍🏽

Went here as part of the Vienna Food Walk tour. Ate downstairs at a table that was tucked away in the old oven where pretzels were backed. The pretzels were the best we have had in Austria and Germany. The Tapelspitz was unremarkable but I think this is a function of the dish rather than the restaurant. The goulash was... More

The place is quite narrow, and since we had a kid on a stroller it wasn't very comfortable. We have ordered a few typical simple dishes: potatoes, some spicy vegetables, scrambled eggs, soup. Food was quite disappointing, not very good. They made us pay 7€ for a bottle of water, not advising us while we were ordering. Final price was... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
