I went to Trzesniewski with my boyfriend and a friend around 12:00 midday and we had a small boer and three toasts. You can't eat there, because they only have small toasts, but you can have there an aperitif. I will recommend it because I think the place is charm.

Great dark bread with various toppings each about 2-3 bites. By the by the box to take home like the locals do or eat them on the spot with a glass of beer. Makes a great snack or light lunch before a good Viennese pastry at a nearby cafe. A Vienna institution for generations.

I was not aware of its sandwiches, which I think they are unique. Create a mix and accompany them with some sparkling wine!

Small, open faced sandwiches in a couple dozen varieties. It can be a little intimidating for first timers, but it's worth the effort. Get in the queue. Point to what you want. Get a drink. Find a seat (very limited) or stand outside and enjoy. The sandwiches are really delicious and very different than anything I've had elsewhere. I'll definitely... More

Best kept secret of the Viennese. Get a Pfiff of beer or a wine spritzer The little tiddly wink system at the fountain so cute. A blue and a yellow one = sprizter!

I always stop by Trzesniewski when I’m in the 1. district. They serve sandwiches with multiple toppings to choose from, to eat in or take away. Trzesniewski offers a really delicious twist on the traditional Austrian breakfast, the sandwiches are to die for and you can wash it all down with a small glass of cold beer or bio-apple juice.... Great place just steps from St. Stephen's. Small delicious sandwichs all on black bread. From egg spread with truffle to herring with onion. Well over twenty choices. Limited seating, mostly take away. Order a big selection and go people watch. They open at 830 and it was my breakfast twice. The horseradish one is another favorite. Not very English speaking,... EUR 1,30 per open face finger sandwich Accepts Visa and Master Card Late Sunday Lunch No wait, casual dining Wife saw this place had good reviews and the finger sandwiches photograph really well. It is also right in the center of the city and very easy to get to. I found the facade to be very uninviting as the glass... More

Had to check this one out after watching a Rick Stein programme. Very pleasant venue for lunch, lots of choice, a good alternative lunch.

If you are on a budget in Vienna, first I want to say "may the force be with you" and second you can give a try to Trzesniewski. Their mini breads with different toppings were tasty and cheap, beer was nice and the location was pretty convenient for quick breakfast or lunch between your visits.

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
