Had a wonderful meal before the opera. The food and service were both excellent. Good value for the level of the meal. The tartare was excellent.

Over the last 15 years, when visiting Vienna, we usually had dinner or lunch in Zum Schwarzen Kameel with family or friends and were very satisfied. This time we did invite friends for lunch on a Sunday. On the menu was a sole, but with a bouillabaisse sauce. Since I'm allergic to shellfish- as I told the waiter- I asked... More

If you are walking through the streets of Vienna in Winter, it is a very good idea to walk in to Zum Schwarzen Kameel. Enjoy a glass of wine or two. Have a snack. They have some nice delicacies. It's a place Viennese people go. Not a tourist trap at all. One more thing: Smoking IS allowed in there, so... More

The back restaurant part of it was great. The staff was courteous, attentive, knowledgeable and the food was great. Four stars there! Unfortunately, I can't split my review, as this is one place, so 1 star for the front room bistro (see below). I averaged them out to get 2 stars. The front part of the place (where they serve... A great place for a casual hangout with wine and Austrian tapas at cool prices. And, best thing: smoking my beloved cigar is permitted. Love this place, wished more places like that would still exist in this overly correct world, also, and especially in other parts of the world. Much hope Austria can preserve its cultural independence.

Everything about this place was pleasing. The original early 1900's decor, the excellent food, and the professional friendly service. Their foie gras was especially incredible. Venison was the tenderest we have ever had. And the place was BUZZING from the minute we arrived till we left - even the outside area, in the dead of winter. We tried to come... More

Visited with family for a famous schnitzel. All food was really excellent, not cheap but good quality has a price. Also the restaurant is very nice and in a good viennese style. The downsides: service was outstanding until desert where service was in a breakdown, we waited longer for it than for main course even after inquiring, no apology. Absolute... More

We had a very good dining experience here. While the outside was packed, we decided to venture inside for a nice late afternoon lunch. My mother, a vegetarian, did not appear pleased with the menu which largely consisted of meat entrees. She informed the host of this, who offered a custom-made salad for her, which I thought was outstanding service.... More

I loved this place, very good service and atmosphere. The Veal Goulash was velvety! and the dessert fresh and light. If I'll go back to Vienna this will be my favourite restaurant!

I went online to procure reservations here. The website responded with a message saying they would send a confirmation to my email address. My wife and I were at the Spanish Riding School when the email came...the email was in German (although the original website had allowed me to switch to English). I was able to make out "Thank you... Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
