We went to spend an afternoon at the Freud-Museum and all of a sudden my wife got very hungry, so there was no time to look around (if you know what I mean...). The REBHUHN is just across the museum, a nice neighborhood Gasthaus (and most of them are pretty good anyway here in Vienna) and so we gave it... More

We stumbled across this place after visiting the Sigmund Freud Museum. We were clearly ready for lunch, when the great smells wafting from the Redhuhn's open door caught our attention. We had no idea what to expect and were immediately pleasantly surprised. The whole place is done out in pine. There's a long bar and crisp white linen. The staff... More

A local friend invited us here to this gem of local cuisine in the 9th district. A wonderful by gone era atmosphere, probably original. We had a mix of schnitzel & rolled meats with dumplings amazing potatoes & veggies. Not a health conscious meal so just continue with their local beers. I had an awesome dark beer. Service is great... More

We found Rebhuhn by chance when we had just arrived in Vienna and went to look for somewhere to eat close to our apartment. Although we couldn't see a menu outside we could see that it was busy inside which is always a good sign on a Monday evening and decided to give it a go. I'm so glad we... More

Canvassed a dozen restaurants in the city in order find some decent food today, but everything was either closed or unappealing. Then we decided to try Rebhuhn and it felt like coming home.Tafelspitz, Schnitzel and the grape juice were just great and the staff was quick and friendly. Made our day, thanks!☺

The pork schnitzel in this restaurant is excellent. However, it is may be crowded during lunch time. Try to call and book a table if you are going in a group.

An excellent place to savour Austrian fare in a traditional 'gasthaus' setting. The servers are warm and friendly, the interiors are tastefully done in rustic wood and the beef goulash is to die for! The meat melts in the mouth and the stew is packed with flavors. Their schnitzel and some of the other stuff are also very good. Highly... More

We just walked in off the street. We were very hungry. We got the goulash and the schnitzel. Both were perfect and very reasonably priced. I would definitely advise a trip as other places in Vienna can be very expensive. Thanks for a fantastic meal. Two happy customers! :)

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighbourhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighbourhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
