If you want to treat yourself to a fine dining in a unique setting, Palmenhaus offers an unforgettable experience. We went with a group of ten to this beautifully converted 19th-century greenhouse, where palm trees were overwintered - hence it's name. Situated on a lovely park, by the Burg Garten right behind the Albertina adjacent to the Austrian National Library,... More

Wonderful location, great views, an incredible wine list, and all under the beautiful roof of the Butterfly House. One of my favourite spots in the city, especially in the summer (on the terrace).

We were fortunate to have a friend with us who took us to this beautiful urban oasis in the center of Vienna next to the Albertina. There were five of us and we enjoyed a wide variety of lunches. I had a delicious dish with white asparagus and salmon smoked in coffee. Others had char and trout, and one had... More

Had a wonderful lunch on the terrace on a sunny afternoon in early April. The view was lovely, the food was very good, and the service was attentive, timely, and unobtrusive.

This restaurant is located in a beautiful park and it's big glass windows allow great views. There is a butterfly museum next door and those are visible as well. The food is generous portions, especially the wiener snitzel. The delicious desserts are displayed as you enter. Plan on having one of those too. There is both inside and outside seating.

This charming old-fashioned "palm house" (conservatory greenhouse with, yes, palm trees and butterflies) cafe was our first stop in Vienna on this trip, as we arrived from the airport before our hotel rooms were ready, and (it being a fine morning) we decided to wander the public parks and gardens while we waited. We sat in the sun on the... More

The place is amazing: a building in the centre of a lovely park, where - while entering - you can see on your left, through its windows, a lot of butterflies flying (a butterfly house is there, and it is amazing to see it). I was advised to ask for a Wiener Schnitzel, and I have really enjoied it. The... More

We had dinner here on a rainy evening. The restaurant has a nice ambience with its high ceilings - you can even see the butterflies from the adjacent Schmetterlinghaus. I can imagine it would be really gorgeous in sunny weather. The food is decent and they have a good wine list. It does get busy but the service is fast... More

In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
