It s a great place where you xan eat the breakfast! You have to sit on a table near to a window, so you can see the people, the rush while you are eating a good meal. Also if you are smoker, you have a separate space where you can drink your caffe and enjoy it!

The cafe Ritter was located near the hotel I was staying while in Vienna. The menu offered a selection of local dishes and desserts. The food was very good and the service was great. It isn't very large so it may take some time to get a table.

We where here several times during our stay in Wien. When you enter the Cafe you are being taken +100 years back in time. The Menu is great and the very observant waiter was in the elite.

This cafe is lovely. Nice food and drinks and great location. Sadly our waiter obviously didn't like us for some reason - perhaps because we couldn't speak the local language? Really not sure what was wrong but he ignored us and we had to get another waiter to ask him to serve us. Even on paying he could not look... More

A traditional looking Café in a busy shopping street. The coffee and pastries were OK, but the service was absolutely uninterested and rude. There were several other guests, but the place was not full at all, so the waiter was not very busy. Would not come again.

We ate here on two nights. On the first night we had the Wiener schnitzel, which was plentiful. On the second night we had the sausages in goulash, which was - er - interesting. Service was prompt and efficient. It was good value.

The Shoppingstreet "Mariahilferstrasse" has been recently redesigned and turned into a modern pedestrian area. The Cafe Ritter stayed as it always was. THANK GOD for that. A viennese tradition is certainly "Das Kaffehaus" the Coffeeshop as we still believe in haven a cup of coffee , be it Kleiner Brauner, Großer Brauner, Melange , Verlängerter, Cappuccino etc. etc. and not... Just looking at the dirty tables or rather the were they were cleaned, should have made me turn around and leave. However, being tired we sat for a coffee, which arrived some twenty minutes after we ordered while the place was not busy. It arrived cold!! No need to tell you more....

The cafe is well placed in the shopping mall and offers good coffee and free wifi. My husband waited here while I shopped which was a relaxing stop for him. The service was ok but could have been better as we had to track down the waiter for the bill.

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
