In one of the oldest restaurants in town me and my friends decided to have a late lunch together :) And no one of us came out dissapointed! For starters two of us had the white asparagues with hollandaise sauce and the other half of...More

Theatercafeen is one of my favorite spots in Oslo, the location is good, close to theatre, train and underground station, although not on the sea. The interior design is classic and so is the menu, a nice combiantion of international and italian cuisine.

I have visited the place over the years, seeing it evolve but staying close to its traditions. The menu is much reduced to what it was, especially at dinner. Delicious sandwiches served at lunch. Expensive of course but well worth a visit.

Theatercafeen is a "monument" in Oslo. It is definitely among the top best restaurants in Oslo. Food is exquisite and the service flawless. A lot of business people, politicians and artists visit the place for a business lunch or dinner, but as a tourist you...More

Recommended by a friend who frequents Oslo on business, dining here was a most pleasant experience and way to start our trip through the Baltic. We met our friends and had time to visit in this sophisticated setting while we debated about what to order....More

Pricey restaurant offering tasty sandwiches as house speciality. Nice atmosphere but it gets crowded and noise level is quite high to have business meals.

A very welcoming bistro experience in this historical bistro-cafe adjoining the Hotel Continental, and opposite the National Theatre. The menu choice is good and not complicated, offering some dishes, but also international cuisine; the wine list is at the level you would expect from such...More

Went here the day we arrived because we were too tired to go outside of the hotel, and had a great meal. Wide selection of fish (what else in Oslo?) and other dishes, nicely prepared and presented. Service was spot on - including helpful recommendations,...More

This iconic place yet again gave us a wonderful experience. We came on a sunny evening, and had the pleasure of starting of our night in the outside section. Me and my wife both started with the caprese salad, which was great! My fried halibut...More

I was here together a representative of the University of Oslo. The food was much below average (how it was presented, the taste, etc.) even the desert and the service was mediocre. Although, there were maximum 10 guests in the restaurant it was virtually impossible...More

Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your feedback - although this wasn’t of the pleasant ones. However, it is important that we receive all types of feedback, good and bad, as we constantly work toward improving our food and service....More

Exuberant and bustling, lively and unique... Theatercafeen is part of Norwegian cultural history and an absolute must for every visitor to Oslo. This legendary Vienna-style café is featured on the New York Times list of the world's ten most famous cafés, and has indisputably been the city's most popular dining and meeting place for over 100 years. Inside the café you can see a unique collection of portrait paintings, all portraying people who are, or have been, regular guests at Theatercafeen. Reservations recommended.
