We had a standard 4 course menu. The wine-pairings were perfect; fantastic handblown glasses. The lamb was unfortunately not very tender, although it was tasty. The service was largely very good, but not quite as attentive as expected.

Not that many restaurants in Oslo achieve a level of sophistication as this one. Beautiful room in famous old house. Excellent service by well trained staff. Warm and friendly hospitality. And of course delicious food and extensive wine list. We had a great evening.

This is the best place in Oslo for a classic Fine Dining experience. The interior, service and wine complements the food in on one of Oslos most beautiful and long lasting restaurants. This is quite the opposite from Kontrast and Maaemo and in some ways a trip back to the nineties and classic french cuisine (I love the contrasts)

Celebrating and enjoying a great meal. A small disappointment with delicious fish slightly overdone. Great service.

Expectations were just partly met, I have recently been to Maemo and Kontrast and food there is vastly more exciting and innovative. But this is of course a concious choice, and they pull it off quite well at Stattholdergaarden. No real highlights or letdowns, a perfectly good meal without the thrills and wow-moments. Service is relaxed and pleasant, ambiance is... More

The Statholdergården exudes the flair of a hundred years past. If you come as a group, you get a short history of the building. We had a 5 course dinner which was excellent. I ordered vegetarian option in advance and it was very good. Kind and attentive service who know the ropes. They have another type restaurant in the basement,... More

Located in an older building and with a mature and distinguished maitre'd, the general ambience is of another, older era. The food, some tasty, some not, is, however, of the modern-day ilk -- sensationally presented and tasting unsensational. Wine list was extensive and the meal expensive.

6 of us had the set 5 course menu with flight of wines. Outstanding food and service from the amuse Bouche, bread, cod, deer, dessert, cheese. A lovely 3 hours.

One of the finest gourmet restaurants in Oslo, located in a 17th-century building in the old city centre. The ceiling has some of the finest stucco work in Northern Europe. The chef, Bent Stiansen, won the prestigious chef championship Bocuse d'Or in 1993. Order from the à la carte menu or try the six-course menu of the day. The menu is composed of the best ingredients available at the time Stiansen uses high-quality Norwegian ingredients, coloured by European tradition. Chambre separée for 8-24 persons. In the basement you find the more informal Statholderens Krostue, which is open for both lunch and dinner.
