Greeted well, glass of red wine served when white was ordered. Ham terrine a two year old could make, layers of thin cut cooked ham sliced though fell into slivers of cheap ham. Herb crusted cod was flaccid dry potato tian all of which was just warm and appeared pre cooked & warmed up . Braised beef good, Veg dish... More

Poor presentation, under cooked vegetables, under ripe fruit, sliced bread - nothing special, but lovely staff.

What can I say, superb meals and a grand evening were had by my wife and I. The maître d is experienced, professional and friendly — a credit to the hotel. The sommelier is attentive (as indeed are all the restaurant staff), and knowledgeable - although we had to pass and go with the coke option as we'd had more... More

Celebratory Sunday lunch for family with three generations around the table. Lovely big room with plenty of space around us. Children were well catered for, as were adults, although we were surprised that a couple of the "classics" had already run out given that we had a 12.30pm table! Service was pleasant, formal but not stuffy, and while leisurely timings... More

We returned to the Garden restaurant for Sunday lunch as a pre birthday treat for my wife. We have been several times over the years and it has always been a lovely lunch. Really elegant establishment a real treat from the doorman parking your car , the lobby staff hanging your coat to the restaurant staff serving you. All with... More

My husband and I ate dinner and breakfast here during our stay at the Grand. Could not not have asked for better. The staff were very courteous and professional and the food was delicious on every occasion. The room and beautiful furnishings are also a pleasure to experience.

The evening started well with drinks in the bar/lounge area. A waiter came and took our food order at 7:50pm. At 8:45pm I had to go to the restaurant and ask if we were actually going to get dinner tonight? Food arrived, a soft duck wrapped in breadcrumb was ordered, what arrived was a partially coated hard boiled egg. The... More

If only I lived closer, I would regularly visit the Garden restaurant. Sunday lunch was sensational. Service is unobtrusive but attentive. You will not be disappointed.

I had the lamb with mashed potatoes and broccoli with a treacle pudding and my partner the chicken dinner with a sweet . 2 glasses of wine and a bacardi and coke all came to £103. The food was very good but I feel the dining experience (the waiters ,wine waiter and the Garden Restaurant itself) eclipsed it. It has... More

The room is magnificent, service excellent. But the meal is a let down. I had an apple based soup, which was mediocre, followed by the steak and ale pie, far too salty. It was served with mash and carrots. Caf grub. The cheese platter was excellent. My daughter had the goat cheese tart which was no better than a slice... More
