Service with a smile, great homely feeling and it really does have character. Excellent food and value for money. My son and I went for lunch and I had the best tasting baked potato I have ever had in a restaurant. It really was fresh, fluffy and tasty. Good portions. Good selection of scones and cake portions.

We've been coming to Characters on a Thursday (ladies who lunch) for nearly a year... wonderful food and the staff are always polite and welcoming... Highly recommend to anyone looking for something a little bit special.

My wife and I were there last night (17/2/2017) with a party from Llandudno U3A. We have been there before for afternoon tea and an evening meal. The meals, specially the steaks, are of excellent quality and size, I had to take half of mine home in a bag and ate it as a sandwich for my lunch. The whole... More

Have visited a number of times during the day for snacks & afternoon tea (always really good). First time in the evening and is was fantastic! Lovely cosy & friendly atmosphere. Food was superb. You can take your own wine or beer so makes the whole evening reasonable. Waffles for dessert were great too😊

My wife and I chanced upon this wonderful tea-room following our walk up Great Orme and coming down via the zig-zag path. It was the first eatery we came to and we are very glad we did. We both had soup (pea & ham and spicy lentil) and these were delicious, thick and full of flavour with great bread as... More

My fiancée and I visited the tea room yesterday. We had a pot of earl grey and a hot chocolate with the lemon curd cake and a scone. Atmosphere was cosy and quirky, the service was fabulous. The owners kindly chatted to us as they closed up, not rushing us out, but instead giving us knowledge on the local area.... More

I visitied Characters for the first time last weekend for a girlie afternoon coffee and cake. Although the coffee was nice the cake was very disappointing. I had the chocolate orange cake which was incredibly sweet with no real flavour of orange. It seemed to have an artificial essence of orange in it and the chocolate topping was the same...no... What a little gem. Visited for the mother's birthday - 5 for Afternoon Tea and what a delight. Everything was freshly made and baked ( a refreshing change!) and tea and coffee replenished as requested. The mis match china was quirky and stylish and the whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable. We'll be back - many thanks :)

Me and my friends came for afternoon tea and it was great with a chilled atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and the food was very tasty. Will definitely come again.

Description
Welcome to Characters Teahouse and Hot Stone Restaurant. A secret to be found. Tucked away in a side street we are not easy to find. But when you do you are in for a big surprise. We are different to say the least..You could say quirky and you would be right. Old second hand china, cups, saucers, plates, glasses, furniture etc all bought from charity shops and completely mismatched giving the place character and ambiance hence the name Characters. Food is wholesome and unpretentious ,soups, sandwiches, hand made cakes & scones of different flavours forming the basis of our now famous Afternoon Tea. Accompanied by proper loose leaf tea & coffee of your choice we are open daytime 11am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. In the evening Friday & Saturday serving from 6.30pm to 8.00pm our also famous "Steak on the Stone" Accompanied by "Bring your Own" wine, beer or champagne. Whenever you decide to visit you will be greeted with a big welcome from the staff & management of this lovely family run restaurant..hopefully see you soon. Characters Team
