I have called in here many times over the years as it is handy for the station. The word 'quirky' has been used more than once to describe the Plough, and I have overheard and joined in some interesting conversations! I have never eaten here but always like to try something different from the excellent range of proper local cider.... More

Visited on a Wednesday night whilst working in Taunton for three days. Have visited a couple of times before whilst in Taunton to watch Somerset play cricket so knew what to expect. Had 12 different ciders on and half a dozen ales so cracking choice. Managed to sample 6 different ciders, all very moreish. Great pub and friendly staff and... More

I frequently eat the pies in The Plough as I find them soooo delicious. I have only ever tried the saag pie-neer and the butternut squash pie but both are amazingly delectable. For only £9.00 you get a pie with mash, mushy peas and gravy; it's really very filling and oh so tasty! They have a good selection of beers with... More

Visited to watch the England v Scotland rugby game. Great local pub with great atmosphere, lots of local ciders and real ales on tap, free food at halftime. Great afternoon, will be back !! Also a pieminster pie pub.

Quickly become my local pub. Originally only visited here and I'm new to the area and we're walking past one evening, I called in and found it to be very friendly (both customers and staff). Quirky little bar, different mixtures of people but always friendly and usually at the weekend there is some sort of live entertainment on. Brilliant place

The Plough is a great pub with a fun atmosphere, there is a great range of ciders available and the Pieminister pie, mash & peas are the stuff of legends. The music is great, both live and DJ.

On the board at the end of the bar, read what's on tap and ready to pour. The beers are always great. A mainly standing bar, there are tables tucked away in other sections of this tardis, as it seems from the outside, very small. Never eaten here but always a good atmosphere and eclectic clientele.

Such a great place - found it while waiting for a train and had a great few real ales and ciders between us. Excellent pies as well. The bar manager was doing a sterling job despite being short staffed, and we are already planning our next visit.

There are plenty of pubs in town but not like this. Great atmosphere, no apologies for the rough edges and no pretence. Genteel it's not but good it is.

We came to the Plough after visiting friends in nearby Castle Cary. Although it was a small pub it was very cosy and the young lady behind the bar made the hubby and I most welcome. It serves food and although we didn't have any the fayre looked extremely good. Would definitely come here again while down in Taunton.
