Whether you are visiting for a special occasion or a casual visit, The Black Lion Firbeck is a great place to dine or have a few drinks. The pub is very nicely decorated with a quaint essential English country pub feel. A the heart of the pub is a roaring open fire, perfect for after those long winter walks around... More

We visited the Black Lion last week after a recommendation from a friend and it was lovely. The pub itself is very homely and the staff really friendly. The main meals were lovely and all six of us really enjoyed the food. I'd recommend the pie - delish!

The Black Lion is no longer a pub with a country pub atmosphere. Immediately on entering you see its plan is for food with how the tables are arranged. Good selection of real ales if you are interested in that. The Sunday lunch menu is limited with only one vegetarian option. The Sunday roast was asked to be a vegetarian... More

Today re visited the Black Lion and I have to say it was not a good meal .. very tasteless and below average for a village pub . Was once a beautiful setting and amazing food.. really disappointed left without dessert as really poor . We didn't complain to the staff as these days pub owners just feel you do... More

Having passed this pub a number of times we decided to go and have a meal. The food was lovely and the red snapper was an enjoyable surprise as you do not find this very often. The service was efficient and the setting comfortable.

Recommended by our builder as a good place to have a meal on a Monday evening. We arrived around 2000hrs The A real country pub with charm and imperfections. Not one that’s been done up to look like a real country pub. However we were the only customers. Good selection of beers and appeared to be well kept. Good selection... More

We are from the area and have frequented the Black Lion loads over the years. We came back in for the first time for a couple of years and we were disappointed that it's no longer a pub that is comfortable to come in and have a drink. It's all restaurant tables and chairs, previously it had a sofa and... More

Called in for lunch when passing. Enjoyed the steak pie which is included in the smaller portion menu. Decent ales including Farmers Blonde. Good value in nice surroundings with pleasant service. Recommended for wholesome plain food.
