We often come here when in Ballater, either for lunch or sometimes just for a soup takeaway. Usually a choice of home made soups. I especially like the lentil, split pea or french onion soups. Served with a bread roll and butter

Open throughout the New Year period. A cheerful welcome and always warm and cosy, with good selection of hot drinks and food.

As is usually the case in places like these the view and the scenery makes up for the average fare. Had scones which were fine. Good size. Nothing else but the scenery stands out.

We visited on recommendation from the Habitat Hostel, for breakfast. Great breakfast, good tea and nice atmosphere. It links into the clothing shop which is a good place if you're caught without the right clothes for a cold Scottish Winter. Definitely worth a visit - the cakes looked fantastic (but we were full from Breakfast!).

Returning to Edinburgh via Glenshee from a trip to Aberdeen we decided to stop at The Bothie in Ballater for brunch. We had one squash/ginger soup + BLT, one mushroom soup + chicken and onion toastie, a latte and an Americano...all delicious. Comfy, well appointed cafe.

Visited at lunchtime on a cold November day and we were delighted to find they were serving soup. We both chose creamy chicken with leek and had bread rolls with it. We followed with tea and cakes/scones which were lovely too

I have now visited The Bothy in Ballater several times, and every time is a complete joy whether I'm in for their yummy cakes and tray bakes, lunch or coffee. The coffee shop is lovely with very friendly staff, and at the helm is Helene, star baker in every sense!! As someone who is wheat intolerant, I am always delighted... More

We visited here twice. Food is very good and served very quickly. Sandwiches, toasties, paninis all sorts. Plus homemade shortbread and other cakes . It is always busy and could do with more tables, probably just a sign of how good the food is.

Went in for a cuppa and ended up having toasties and cake as well. All reasonably priced and delicious especially the St Clements cake. Staff very friendly and efficient. Cafe was very busy. Speaks to the quality.

This is a very popular cafe in Ballater and you can see why. It is roomy, comfortable and well decorated. Although tempted to the full breakfast, we restricted ourselves to a couple of bacon and egg rolls which were generously filled and very tasty. Service was efficient and friendly.
