Tried to get a table for 4 adults and 6 kids for dinner at 5pm. Told by staff member they can't cope with a table of 10 even though place only had one table seated and no tables reserved..... So much for hospitality.

Thank you for this review, although I feel I have the answer to the inaccuracies above. You arrived at the hotel at 5.00pm on a Saturday with no reservation, that particular Saturday was during our walking week festival and the TGO walk bringing in over 250 walkers that particular evening , 74 of which had reserved tables with us. I... More

Surprisingly, the restaurant was not open but dinner was available at the bar. There were quite a few tables so it looked okay. At first, we needed to get our own beers and place the order with the bartender who was quite friendly. Once the order was placed, a server appeared with our appetizers and she took care of us... It was great to walk in and have my food allergies understood .The service was prompt, and I was served an excellent meal that was adapted from the standard menu. Nothing was too much trouble for my allergies.

Stopped in at the Alexander Hotel Restaurant for an evening snack and a drink. The server was very witty and fun. The place was quiet and very warm atmosphere. It was too bad we were not in Balater longer as I'm sure we would have patronized the establishment again.

After a trip to Burn O' Vat, my party decided to stop off for a drink in a local hotel. We chose the Alexandra Hotel on a whim and were greeted by the most friendly lady who happened to be covering the bar that evening. She welcomed us in and served us with a smile whilst making polite conversation. Another... More

A good place for something to eat after a long day. We had dinner in the pub and both the main (steak and ale pie) and the dessert (sticky toffee pudding) was fine. Service a bit slow.

Great value for money and lovely food. Service was very prompt, with friendly staff. A very enjoyable meal can recommend the fish and chips and the scampi.

The "Alex" is a very reliable favourite. Real ales, especially from the Cairngorm brewery are well kept. The star of the show, food wise is the fish and chips. Portions are very generous and fish is always very fresh. A great place to visit. A real focal point where a wide variety of people mix and are made welcome.
