We were staying locally with a friend who recommended this "family" pub for a nice atmosphere and a bite to eat but unfortunately it wasn't that great! In general the service wasn't friendly and quite poor. We ordered a bowl of chips and after asking where they were 45 minutes later they than arrived at our table! I could have... More

I have been visiting this pub from time to time over the years and today will be my last visit. Loud brash bar man, clicky, poor service. Stood waiting to be served and totally ignored whilst barman served another man who came to the bar after me who he obviously knew. Poor show and rude. I left. Food has been... More

Popped in for lunch halfway round a long walk. The food as always, was really good, as was the pint of guest ale I drank to wash it down. I went for the veggie burger, my wife had the roast Mediterranean salad. Delicious. Recommended

A regular haunt for Friday lunch with my little dog. The staff are so friendly and even get to know your name. Food is fab .. good hearty freshly cooked. The fire is always lit on colder days. It attracts people who appreciate its atmosphere. It's not modern .. it's old and atmospheric ! Just perfect x

Cold winter night and the welcome was warm as well as the fire. Good selection of food, nothing fancy just food solid pub grub. Definitely worth a visit as the ales are good as well.

I am lucky to live only two miles away in Kimpton. This is the most authentic old English pub in the area. Winter magnificent fire. Summer lovely garden. Real ale. Food cooked from scratch not microwaved. I have brought many work guests here from Germany and they love it!

Stopped here on Sunday just after opening on a beautiful October day, no tables set out in the rear garden. The bar was full, one barrel had run out, which meant they was only one member of staff who could serve. The tables in the front garden, which need a coat of paint ,had not been cleared, ashtrays full of... More
