Popped in for lunch with my dog while staying in the area.. welcomed as soon as I came in, had a lovely fishermans platter - the chowder was beautifully done. The garden is pleasant and I didn't find the loos to be unclean at all?...More

A really enjoyable watering hole at the halfway mark on a walk from Redbrook to Tintern Abbey via Offa's dyke and the Devil's Pulpit. Good bitter and quality soft drinks for those who are into that.

Stayed in a cottage nearby and the pub was recommended. Very disappointing, old, dirty, run down, toilets worryingly unhygienic, thank goodness we only had a sandwich (which was ok) and a coke (that didn't even taste like coke). Outside seating was in a run down...More

This is one of the top two pubs we've visited here in the UK, the other being the Old Town Inn in St. Mary's, Isles of Scilly. Staff and locals were both warm and welcoming. Food was very good: I had the broccoli and blue...More

Well! what a reception from the staff, the food and beer were excellent, great value for money, the mixed cheese plough mans was great and everyone made a special effort to thank the kitchen staff. Good wholesome grub, great portions. Well worth a visit.

This was one village pub which is definitely on my First, Only and Last ever time I would ever visit a country pub. Pubs like these are notorious for giving out two set of prices for customers: locals and tourists. How they get away with...More

This is immediately by the Wye River and is popular with walkers. It is just minutes from Tintern and a little longer to Monmouth. I used to live in the village and the owners are charming people very helpful. It is a pity that the...More

During a week's holiday in the Wye Valley, we ate at the Brockweir Inn three times! I'm vegan, so it's not always easy to find something tasty and interesting to eat when I'm out, but the Brockweir Inn usually have something on the menu and...More

Hi AmMary Would you say this is a really cosy pub? I am hoping to visit that area and stay in a cottage for Christmas with my husband. However, whichever village we chose to stay in all depends on the pub. We are looking for a village pub with loads of charm and atmosphere, roaring fire and candlelight - the sort of cosy pub that you could happily sit in all night after a long walk. Would you say that Brockweir Inn is like that? It is so hard to tell from the photos on line. So many country pubs are a disappointment when you get inside. Many thanks for your opinion

Dear Mary, Thank you very much for your enquiry. We love to think of ourselves as a lovely cosy, atmospheric pub. The decor is subjective, but there are charming stone walls and 2 roaring fires. The locals are very friendly... More
