This used to be a lovely local pub with decent pub grub but since it has been taken over it is shambolic. The food was inedible- chips soggy with oil, chicken breast burnt to a cinder, dried out burger, sides missing from mains due to having 'run out' but not telling customers until food is served. Had to send two... More

Popped in here for an early lunch whilst walking a circular route from Shillingford. All four of us had the sandwich, chips and drink for £7.99. They had run out of one of our choices but an alternative was found. There were plenty of chips, the bread/wrap were fresh and two of us chose steak cooked differently but both served... More

This pub suffers from the same syndrome that all the other pubs in Wallingford seem to suffer, revolving door managers and staff, that usually last less than a year. Sadly the latest managers have chosen to put a number of blaring speakers outside, so that sitting on what used to be a lovely peaceful patio area in front of the... More

We had booked a table of 12 so the pub has known for over a month we were coming but still so many of the menu dishes were unavailable. No steaks, fish, pork belly and so it went on. Many other customers tried to order food too but got the same answer. The local supermarkets were still open so why... More

We often get together with a group . This was the first time with have visited this one . An area had been set aside for us. The pub was very busy but to be expected on a sunny evening. River view from outside area is lovely. Although we did not eat many of our friends with us had meals.... More

Went for dinner at this pub because it was a lovely day and we felt like a view of the Thames. The view was gorgeous - location, location, location, but the food was below average and the service was average at best. We would have liked a window table. It was empty but it was never cleared off. Our table... More

The Boathouse has a great location right next to the Thames in Wallingford but everything else about it was disappointing. Six of us (including two children) had Sunday lunch there. The food was lukewarm when it reached the table and we had to wait over half an hour with dirty plates in front of us before the children's puddings arrived,... More

Views are lovely however service is very slow. After waiting 50mins we asked where our food had go to, turns out the 'order hadn't gone through' so we waited another 20 mins for the chips to be missing with our mains and when they were delivered (after finishing our wraps and burgers) they were luke warm. We did get a... More

Very picturesque. Beer good. Was originally told 30 mins wait for food but it suddenly jumped to an hour. Needless to say I didnt wait. Took waitress 30 mins to try to take order. Finished drinks and left. 3 out of five real ales were 'off'.

This place is OK but, if river views or outside eating aren't your thing, the food isn't worth the trip. It's OK, but only OK
