When moved to Wallingford in the 1970's thiswas our favourite pub. We loved Brian and the memory of his cheese and onion rolls lingered on ! So having heard mixed reviews of the new ownership we were unsure if this would be suitable for celebrating our Golden Wedding in a few weeks time. It was excellent, cosy on a cold... More

Used to come here quite a lot 10+ years ago but havent been recently. Met a friend here for lunch this week. I was a bit apprehensive having read recent reviews. We hadn't booked and were made to feel welcome. Just had starters + soft drinks + tip = £20. Starters were very tastey and a decent size. Just to... More

Used to frequent this pub back in the day when it was festooned with ancient agricultural tools or were they instruments of torture? Lager was an extremely non-male drink as my 80's Yuppie friend was reminded and food was enormous cheese & onion rolls all served by a wonderful throw back Brian Penny. Thankfully for lunch lovers the menu has... More

Superb, freshly-cooked food, welcoming service and relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful setting. I went with daughter, 8-yr old grandson and one of his friends. Fortunately, we arrived just after 12 because, by 12.30, the place was filling up with pre-booked (it was Valentine's Day!) lunches as well as others, like us, dropping in on spec. Despite being very busy, the... More

Roast lamb and veg lasagne with garlic bread and 2 soft drinks for ~£36 was a bit expensive but very nice. The veggie option would not have been enough with just the side salad but an extra £3 took it too a very expensive meal. A great spot to go for a walk/bike from. We will be back but probably... The location of King William is great for walks on a sunny day like today. The place is a nice traditional pub and the selection on the menu also what you would expect. However, the food is expensive and not of a quality to defend it. The selection on the children's menu is good but again expensive as it was... More

We have visited this pub for years. The view is unsurpassable. On a pleasant day, it's hard to beat. However . . . we recently went there for the first time since it changed hands. The new publicans are polite and friendly - the woman is particularly nice - but there are some things they ought pay attention to. One,... More

Fantastic views across the fields and tucked away in a quiet location. Great for a rambling circuit to build up an appetite and then good food and beer including real ale, Brakspears. Always busy, so wise to book ahead if you are in a group.
