Friendly atmosphere and welcoming. Meal offer was two courses for £12.99. I chose burger in brioche bun with sweet potato chips, homemade and really nice. Others had fish pie which they enjoyed and contained chunks of fish. We all had apple, cinnamon and raisin crumble with cream or ice cream which was lovely. Knowledgeable and attentive waitress.

Great spot, didn't try food but really pleasant bar - small, has an open fire if it's a cool evening and had great friendly service!

Really enjoyed our sunday roast here, it was an impromptu visit whilst driving past and luckily they squeezed us in. I had the beef....very tender and came with a massive Yorkshire pud! My husband had the pork, it was really thick and very succulent. Both came with a beautifully cooked veg selection and roast potatoes. The staff were very friendly... More

A warm and welcoming pub with delicious food and good service. We eat here regularly and also feel satisfied and happy with our experience.

It was our Granddaughter 18th birthday celebration. It was a bit of a risk as none of the 14 of us had eaten there before, but we went on recommendations from friends that had eaten there. They were right. Firstly we had the beautiful granary to ourselves, we had pre ordered which went like a dream. LOVELY helpful staff right... More

I stayed here 1 night for work, and although the room is fairly basic, the staff and food offered will have you coming back again and again. I am not a great Burger fan, but it was Burger night, so allowed myself to be persuaded by the chef, that I would not regret it. Absolutely superb, I enjoyed every morsel,... More

Stumbled upon the place whilst out for a country drive, glad we did not be swayed by the negative reviews on here. Its a small village pub that obviously relies on passing trade. We found the service and food to be excellent, despite arriving late on duriing lunchtime service. It was lovely and cosy with two roaring log burners. We... More

I don't know what's wrong with the landlords here. The food is excellent, the ambience is lovely in a big airy pub, but the wait for food is just ridiculous. 30 mins for staters, 30 mins for main course and 40 mins for the dessert. We asked for the dessert after 30 mins and we were told it was just... More

As usual in the area, word of mouth took us to the Chequers for Saturday lunch. Word was that the food and atmosphere were very good, but service was wanting. We went with a completely open mind. Talk about snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory! There is simply no service culture in this establishment so it became irrelevant... More
