First Question : Are dogs allowed? Reply ::Certainly. And what a welcome there was. Water bowl and three dog biscuits appeared on our table even before we had time to order our drinks !. As a cider lover it was a pleasure to be offered Hurstwood Cider..locally made and delicious. The Pub specialises in local produce - all of a very... More

Great rib eye steak, great crab linguine, good, if tiny, starters, but sadly an appalling veg lasagna. Bland, poorly prepared aubergine and courgette, burnt cheddar topping ( no evidence of the pecorino promised in the menu), unseasoned tomato puree. Chefs who don't bother to put their craft into the vegetarian option belong in the last century. Glad we checked the... More

The three of us enjoyed a delicious lunch here last Wednesday. The ambience and the staff of this Pub are welcoming. The surrounding countryside is spectacular so it is an enjoyable drive to The Hurstwood from whichever way you decide to get there. (In the past I have walked there from a layby on the A26 as there is a... More

After going once, we've been back numerous times since. The staff are all lovely and we have had a few incredible roasts on a Sunday there. It is great as the pub is still very traditional with wooden features, but at the same time the food has that little bit more. Hats off to the chefs! If you like lamb,... More

We'd been told about The Hurstwood by several people and finally paid it a visit. Greeted by friendly staff and sat near the bar. Lovely feel to the bar/restaurant. Small menu but fabulous food and (as we'd been told) the Sticky Toffee Pudding was incredible - More like A Brownie Island Floating in a Lake of Sticky Toffee - Amazing...... More

Ate here this evening with my partner and his Dad as an early birthday treat. They had both been several times before (my first visit) and had previously said they had been a bit disappointed last time, but we were all really impressed tonight. The wild mushroom bruschetta starter smelt and tasted delicious (although perhaps a bit small for the... More

Brusque welcome by Maitre'd. Nice bar manager, allowed us to taste our wine choice, good move. Shown to a draughty table by the front door and asked if we could move, not met with a pleasing response but, we felt grudgingly, moved to a much better table. From then on things improved. Excellent menu advice from aforementioned Maitre"d and outstanding... More

Found the pub very unwelcoming. All the tables had been set for dinner with cutlery. We asked if we could sit at a table with drinks and we're told there was a quiz evening. We sat down for 5 minutes and were told we had to move as the quiz was going to take place. When we asked where else... More
