We had a lovely meal here. Scallops to start were beautifully done. We both had the daily special farmer's fillet steak, each was cooked as ordered and the accompanying dauphainoise potatoes and green beans were also perfectly done. Every mouthful a pleasure. Service was probably 4 * rather than 5* but I wouldn't hesitate to eat here next time we're... More

On a beautiful day we sat in the beer garden for some drinks. After the first round we went back for seconds. We queued at the bar to be told it needed to close, but there was another bar in the next room. We duly obliged and queued in the next room. The queue was long with only one person... More

Have not eaten at the Fort for sometime but Easter Sunday lunch was very disappointing. Our food order was forgotten and had to wait an hour for it to arrive and although they were very apologetic and arranged some free drinks it doesn't do the reputation of this wonderful Salcombe institution any good. Will try again and hope things have... More

We stayed for 1 night as we were visting friends staying in Salcombe for the week. They are renovating rooms and ours wasn't finished, so TV and heating didn't work. We did find it a bit chilly at night, so a portable heater would have been welcome. The bed was comfortable. We were directly above the bar and was certainly... More

Highly recommend staying at the Fortescue Inn. Staff really helpful and room perfect. Benefit of free parking which in Salcombe is a real bonus. Perfectly located in the centre with easy access to shops, restaurants and beautiful coastal walks. Will stay their again as soon as opportunity arises!

Service was minimalistic, friendly but just doing what they needed to do, and spent a lot of time discussing their social lives in the bar. For starters some of us had Brie and others crab cakes both really nice and very tasty, served quickly. Mains the burger was very nice and tasty, the fish and chips nice. The seafood chowder... Hi Thank you for visiting our establishment Apologies for the staff shortcomings, that's not supposed to happen :( Happy you enjoyed most of the food, the Seafood Chowder is normally well received. It does not have any fish in it at all, although I assume it was lacking in the shellfish, I must remember to put a list of it's... More

We visited here on Monday night following a recommendation. The atmosphere of the pub was good, and we were seated with no problem even though we'd not booked. The ordered some drinks and then felt forgotten. I had to eventually put my hand up to ask if we could order our food. When we were just about to finish the... More

Hi, thank you for giving us a try Pie normally receives rave reviews and yes it is cooked as a whole round pie with shortcrust pastry top and bottom and then sliced, apologies if it was not up to standard The chips are not behaving themselves. Being a natural product they vary from time to time but are again normally... More
